Yesterday, our trailing K9 teams challenged themselves during a training exercise at Knoebles Amusement Resort. This unique environment provided a variety of real-world distractions and obstacles, including hard surfaces, warm temperatures, moving carts, large crowds, and perhaps the greatest challenge of all—dropped food. Training in busy, high-distraction settings is essential for developing a dog’s ability to remain focused and accurately follow a scent trail despite competing odors, noise, and activity. By exposing our K9s to these realistic conditions, we help build their confidence, adaptability, and reliability, ensuring they are prepared to perform effectively whenever and wherever they are called upon to assist in a search.
