For Vickie Johnson, serving others was simply part of who she was. From ICO's earliest days, she dedicated her time, compassion, and faith to supporting children and families throughout the community.

But what makes her story especially meaningful is how it has come full circle.

All four of Vickie's children grew up attending ICO's Summer Day Camp. Today, three of her grandchildren attend that same camp, creating memories of their own in a place their grandmother once helped lead.

As we celebrate 40 years of Inner County Outreach, Vickie's son, Andre V. Johnson Jr., shares memories of his mother, the lives she touched, and what it means to see her legacy continue through his own family.

It's a story that captures the heart of our mission: Strengthening Families Across Lifetimes and Legacies.

This morning, we had the pleasure of welcoming members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints for a tour of our main office and the Paradise Project!

It was a wonderful opportunity to share more about ICO's programs, the families we serve, and our vision for the future.

We always appreciate opportunities to connect with community members, exchange ideas, and explore how we can work together to make an even greater impact.

What an incredible day of service at the Paradise Project!

On Tuesday, Inner County Outreach welcomed an amazing group of volunteers for our Paradise Project Planting Day, part of the Baltimore Ravens' Caw to Action initiative in partnership with United Way of Central Maryland!

Together, volunteers rolled up their sleeves to clear brush and plant native trees and shrubs, helping us take another exciting step toward bringing the Paradise Project to life!

Our vision for this 28-acre campus is to create a space where children, families, and our community can learn, grow, connect, and thrive. Thanks to the hard work and generosity of our volunteers and community partners, we're one step closer to making that vision a reality.

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who gave their time, energy, and enthusiasm to make this day such a success! We couldn't have accomplished so much without you!

Another generous contribution helping the Paradise Project grow!

A huge thank you to Coast of Maine Organic Products for donating 10 cubic feet of Castine Blend Raised Bed Mix to support our Paradise Project Planting Day!

We also want to give a special thank you to The Mill of Bel Air for connecting us with Coast of Maine and serving as the pickup location for their generous donation. We’re incredibly grateful for community partners who not only support ICO themselves, but also help connect us with others who want to make a difference. 💚

These contributions will help our volunteers bring new life to the Paradise Project as we plant, landscape, and begin transforming this future space for children and families in our community.

The Paradise Project Planting Day is part of the Baltimore Ravens Caw to Action, in partnership with United Way of Central Maryland.

We are so grateful to The Mill Stores for their generous donation of azaleas, weigela, and a variety of beautiful perennials for our upcoming Paradise Project Planting Day!

Their generosity is helping us bring new life to the Paradise Project grounds as we take another step toward bringing this vision for our community to life.

We’re grateful to Ecotone for generously donating 25 native trees and shrubs to support our upcoming Paradise Project Community Planting Day!

Ecotone specializes in ecological restoration, working to restore and protect natural spaces through projects involving streams, wetlands, forests, and more. Their support is especially meaningful as we work to thoughtfully care for and develop the natural landscape of the Paradise Project.

On October 6, volunteers will come together to help bring new life to the property through planting, landscaping, and care for the natural spaces that will one day surround our future campus.

Thank you, Ecotone, for investing in the Paradise Project and helping us grow this vision from the ground up!

Last night, ICO had the honor of joining the Women’s Giving Circle of Harford County for their 2026 Grantee Showcase!

Surrounded by so many incredible local nonprofits and women committed to strengthening our community, we had the opportunity to share more about ICO and Fresh Start Furnishings, our newest program and the recipient of this year’s Women’s Giving Circle grant.

We are so grateful to the Women’s Giving Circle for their support and for an evening dedicated to celebrating the amazing work happening throughout Harford County!

On Friday, our team stepped away from the office for an Employee Engagement outing to see Daniel and the Fiery Furnace together!

Between the work we do each day, it’s important to make time to connect, recharge, and simply enjoy one another’s company. We’re grateful for opportunities like these to strengthen our team and celebrate the people behind ICO’s mission.

We are incredibly thankful to Sprouts Healthy Communities Foundation and our Bel Air Sprouts Farmers Market team for their generous $5,000 Growing Healthy Kids Grant supporting our Roots & Recipes: Nourishing Youth Beyond the School Day initiative!

This funding will help provide our youth with nutritious meals and snacks, hands-on cooking experiences, gardening activities, and nutrition education, giving them practical skills and healthy habits they can carry home and into the future.

We’re especially grateful for the warmth, sincerity, and genuine care the Bel Air Sprouts team has shown our kids as we begin this new partnership. Together, we’re planting the seeds for a healthier future for our youth and community! 🌱💚

As we celebrate 40 years of Inner County Outreach, we’ve been looking back at the people and stories that have shaped our history, and sometimes, we discover that those stories are still unfolding today.

Ellice and Lakeisha spent their summers together as campers at Trinese Jones Summer Day Camp. Today, Ellice helps lead the program she once attended, while Lakeisha’s daughters are now making summer memories of their own at the very same camp.

One old photograph of two childhood friends became a beautiful reminder of what Strengthening Families Across Lifetimes and Legacies truly looks like.
