YOUTH UNDER SKILLS DEVELOPMENT
YUAMART is a Community Based Organization (CBO) located in Jinja, Uganda and is designed to benefit young people who are disadvantaged and have barriers to education with a special focus on the female youth who are encouraged to join on free scholarships. Our Vocational Training Initiative include: Motor Mechanics, Spraying and Metal fabrication, Career guidance as well as entrepreneurship, functional literacy, basic numeracy, and financial literacy.
The Organization focuses on supporting behavior change, building resilience and contribute towards enabling youth to having sufficient incomes and/or resources to enable sustainable, productive and fulfilling lives. We provide work Readiness Skills (Hands on Training), which include livelihood preparedness, employable entrepreneurship skills, technical & vocational skills, as well as experience with work for continuing students. Once a young person is “ready” and has a gained “sufficient income and resource to sustain productive and fulfilling lives and contribute to their community’s well-being,” it is assumed that through acquiring essential life skills alongside gaining sustainable livelihoods, the youth will develop a sense of autonomy, purpose and personal empowerment which in turn leads them to contribute to the common good of their community as both financial citizens and active citizens.
