📅 On the 31st March 2026 in collaboration with Positive Women Together in Action, we conducted a gathering for TB survivors, people with TB and affected communities from the four regions of Eswatini. The gathering, held in Manzini was conducted as a commemoration of World TB Day 2026 for TB affected communities in the country. It was conducted as a community forum to identify challenges faced by TB survivors post TB treatment, challenges face by people with TB and affected communities. During this gathering TB communities identified gender equality, bodily autonomy and integrity challenges that can be raised through parliament.

"Our TB Day" gathering was a day to remember our loved ones who lost the fight against TB, reminding us that they are not numbers but people with names. We gave strength to those taking care of people with TB and their families.
A huge thank you to everyone who joined us, shared their lived experiences and committed to a TB free Eswatini.

📅 24 March: World TB Day 2026

Today we join the world in commemorating the World TB Day. On this day we remember all those who passed on emphasizing that they are not just numbers but human beings. We also give support to those who care for people with TB in our communities and families motivating them to do more. On this day we join hands in the fight to related stigma. This is the day to call upon our governments to increase domestic funding for TB.

Let’s stand together to:
◇Promote early testing
◇Support treatment
◇End stigma
◇Advocate for more funding

As our campaign continues, we highlight the essential work of Eswatini Coalition on TB-TBPeople Eswatini, a community‑led force transforming the national TB response from a clinical system into a people‑centered, rights‑based movement grounded in lived experience.

TB People Eswatini plays a vital role in shifting perspectives, strengthening early health‑seeking behavior, and ensuring that people affected by TB receive care with dignity, understanding, and respect. By leveraging their leadership as TB Champions, they carry out grassroots sensitization to help communities understand TB infection, treatment, and prevention — translating complex medical information into relatable, practical guidance through personal testimony.

A central part of their work focuses on fighting stigma, which remains one of the greatest barriers to TB care in Eswatini. Their efforts challenge harmful myths — including the misconception that TB is linked to witchcraft — and help build environments where individuals feel safe to seek testing, treatment, and support without fear of discrimination. Through these community dialogues, TB People Eswatini helps “humanize” the disease and bring compassion back into the heart of TB care.

TB People Eswatini is also deeply involved in demand creation for TB Preventive Therapy (TPT), especially among high‑risk groups such as household contacts and people living with HIV. By educating communities on the benefits of prevention, they help clear a path toward the national vision of a TB‑free Eswatini.

Beyond awareness and prevention, they provide life‑skills training for TB survivors, people undergoing treatment, and their families — championing a holistic approach that supports not only health but also resilience, livelihood, and long‑term wellbeing.
Across all their interventions, one element remains constant:
the power of lived experience.

TB People Eswatini uses storytelling, peer support, and survivor leadership as core strategies to bring people closer to care and to build a TB response rooted in trust, humanity, and shared purpose.
Stay with us as we continue highlighting the voices and leadership of working tirelessly to ensure a world free from TB.

Myth vs Fact

📢📢Today, our champions Tessa Dlamini and Phindile Masango are talking about some of the myths about TB.

❌ MYTH: TB is caused by witchcraft or curses
✅ FACT: TB is caused by bacteria and can be treated

❌ MYTH: TB cannot be cured
✅ FACT: TB is curable with proper treatment

TB related stigma stops people from seeking help. Let’s all work towards ending TB related stigma in our communities.

📢📢 Profiling today's awareness message from our two young champions Yv Gee Shumi and Maria Mkhabela.

Did you know?

People living with HIV are at a higher risk of developing TB because their immune system is weakened.

TB is one of the leading causes of death among people living with HIV but it is preventable and treatable. We should ensure that funding for TB is increased!

👉 Know your status. Get tested for both TB and HIV.

📢Today, our young champions Sp Zwane and Thando Dlamini are saying;
TB (Tuberculosis) is a serious but curable disease that mainly affects the lungs and spreads through the air when a person coughs or sneezes.
The good news? TB can be treated and cured with the right medication. 💊

Final Gathering of the Year!

The global TB-affected community network TBPeople, together with community organizations from 25 countries and in partnership with Stop TB Partnership, the TB Coordination Hub, and Global Fund Advocates Network, is delighted to invite you to the

Global Dialogue of TB Communities & Partners 2025

“Joining Forces for 2026: Centering Dignity and Community Voices for Action”

🗓 16 December 2025
⏰ 14:00–16:00 Geneva time
🌍 Languages: English, French, Russian

After a year filled with challenges, it is time for all of us — the global TB community, partners, and friends — to come together, reflect, and shape a shared plan of action for 2026.

At the heart of the meeting is dignity, human rights, and the real voice of people affected by TB and a shared understanding of the essential role TB affected communities play in strengthening the design, delivery monitoring, governance and overarching policy frameworks of TB prevention, diagnosis, treatment, care and support.

Together, we will reflect on how communities shape the response, how Community-Led Monitoring strengthens evidence, how communities generate demand for TB tools, the need for evidence-based stigma reduction to be a central pillar of national TB responses and what priorities will guide our joint work forward.

During the meeting we will:
· summarize key global events and initiatives of the year
· assess progress on protecting the rights of people affected by TB
· explore priorities for 2026
· identify shared advocacy directions for TBPeople and partners
· discuss how to strengthen and protect community voices in global policy
· collectively commit to advocating for direct investment from donors and technical partners into communities at the national and subnational level, driving efforts to generate demand, reduce stigma, enhance community-led monitoring, and the importance of integrating sustainable community led TB services in national responses.
· reinforce unity and readiness for collective action

We warmly invite community members, partners, organizations, advocates, and friends to join us.

This meeting is made possible thanks to the Stop TB Partnership and TBpeopleUkraine under the L'Initiative and Unitaid supported Challenge Facility for Civil Society, as well as the continued support of partners and the active participation of communities worldwide.
