Life is tough but tougher for those who seek solace in substance abuse to escape their troubles. It becomes double or even triple trouble; sustaining the substance abuse habit and the persistent problems that drew you into the substance abuse in the first place.

The first fundamental life lesson is financial literacy. Without proper knowledge on how to manage your funds you are bound to commit blunders leading you to precarious situations like heavy debts, stresses due to unending problems and substance abuse.

Another fundamental life lesson is self esteem. You need to have high self esteem but be teachable as well. You need to be able to learn from others mistakes yet not so risk averse. You must be able to take decisions after thorough considerations even if you are up against a majority.

Amongst the major causes of gender based violence as it is called, is substance abuse. Some people are so deep into drugs such that they are literally living on them and cannot function outside them. Some get hooked up while trying to fit into a certain class in the society. Some suffer in silence because they don't want to be seen as failures or because they depend on the abusers for funding or recognition into an elite class.

The last few months have been quite hectic with festivals, and with the rise of social media, some individuals feel compelled to make a statement by attending at least one festival and sharing their photos as often as they can.

If you're low on funds to go, take a deep breath; there's absolutely nothing wrong with not attending, and you don't owe anyone an explanation. It's perfectly fine if you aren't in the thick of things. If you have other financial commitments, it's okay to skip the festivals. You don't need to criticize the events or borrow money just to go.

Your mental well-being is paramount. Your self-worth matters too. You remain a valuable individual with dignity, even if you didn't participate. Those who did attend are wonderful people as well. Keep your focus and find joy.

Let us say no to child abuse including ritual murder. Our children are the future.

The issue of child paternity is linked to domestic abuse and drug abuse.
We need laws to make DNA compulsory at birth.

The most challenging profession in this day and age is teaching. The environment is so dynamic that family definitions are changing and so are gender roles. Even childhood is changing as some children become adults at birth. They have responsibilities beyond what an adult would execute. As a teacher you have to deal with all these variations yet you also have your own problems and biases.

Notwithstanding, let us teach our children even as parents instead of pushing all the responsibility of shaping them to teachers.

Western education is good but over reliance on it has been a major undoing for Eswatini. Most indigenous EmaSwati prefer white collar jobs than businesses and once one is in gainful employment they retire their vocational skills and behave like employers, soliciting others to work for them even on the most basic tasks which they are able to execute themselves.
