Imagine being the first. The first woman to step into a space where no one who looked like you had been before. That’s the story of Judge Mabuza, who shattered glass ceilings in Eswatini’s legal system, not once, but twice!

In 1978, she made history as the first woman admitted as an attorney in Eswatini, setting the stage for generations of women in law. But she didn’t stop there. In 2005, she did it again, becoming the first female judge of the High Court.

Judge Mabuza didn’t just take up space; she changed the game. In 2010, she presided over a landmark case securing equal property ownership rights for Swazi women, challenging the deep-rooted laws that had held them back for so long. Her rulings didn’t just change laws, they changed lives.

This Women’s History Month, we celebrate Judge Mabuza, not just for the titles she’s held, but for the doors she’s kicked open and the women she’s empowered along the way. Here’s to her courage, her legacy, and the future she helped shape!

This year, an alarming number of women have tragically lost their lives to femicide in Eswatini. Femicide being the deadliest form of gender-based violence. This violence steals lives, leaves families grieving and children orphaned. Despite widespread outrage in the country, the response has been inadequate—promises made, but action remains lacking.

This isn't merely a call for justice; it's a fight for the right to live. Together, we can work toward a world where women and girls are free from violence.
