🌿 WE’RE HIRING | EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR – JODENSAVANNE STICHTING
A unique opportunity to lead one of Suriname’s most significant UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
The Jodensavanne Foundation is seeking an experienced, strategic, and dynamic Executive Director to lead the organization into an ambitious new phase.
Jodensavanne is entering an important period of development, including a multi-year heritage conservation project, the Friends of Jodensavanne programme, a commercialization and marketing strategy, and the implementation of a visitor management plan.
YOUR ROLE
You will provide strategic and operational leadership to the Foundation, working closely with the Board, government, Indigenous communities, universities, and national and international partners.
Key responsibilities include:
• Leading the Foundation’s day-to-day operations;
• Overseeing the heritage conservation project;
• Developing partnerships and fundraising initiatives;
• Implementing the marketing, commercialization, and visitor management strategies;
• Leading the annual Jodensavanne Archaeology Volunteerweek
• Supporting other strategic priorities of the Board.
WHAT YOU BRING
✔️ At least 5 years of leadership experience in business administration, heritage, tourism, and/or project management;
✔️ Fluency in Dutch and English;
✔️ Proficiency in Sranan Tongo is essential;
✔️ The right to work in Suriname;
✔️ Strong leadership, strategic, organizational, and communication skills;
✔️ A genuine passion for Suriname’s heritage and sustainable development.
Familiarity with Jodensavanne is an advantage.
📍 Location: Paramaribo, with regular visits to Jodensavanne.
