It’s a shame the fan is making so much noise because our head girl is making a lovely speech about what the solar power means to her. We did didn’t dare turn off the fan because the heat is so bad in Sierra Leone right now!! Children were fainting in the classroom because of the heat which is why we decided that now was the time for Build on Books to install fans and lighting at St Clement School

Night time classes finally made possible in rural Sierra Leone thanks to Solar Power.
The students are preparing for exams this week so they need all the extra help they can get!! This has been a dream for Build on Books for years and now thanks to our generous donors we finally made it happen!!!

This is a life changing moment for all the students at St Clements School in Kwama; thanks to a generous to Build on Books. We now have solar power for every classroom. Students preparing for exams can study at night time and we can also hold extra classes.
Students can also feel safer as the light should hopefully scare away snakes and other predators or at least make them visible. Life is pretty tough for students in Sierra Leone but in Kwama it’s just got a bit easier

As some of you know, we installed solar power in the technical and vocational Learning Centre in Kwama. We’ve had lighting and Power for a long time which has meant we can offer computing , tailoring , catering and hairdressing classes day and evening.
Climate changes have made Sierra Leone hotter than ever, so even though people are used to the heat, it has become unbearable, especially during the dry season. So the students asked us to install fans. We are testing out three ceiling fans in different rooms for a short while before rolling out the Project

This weekend we put a new roof on the Peace Library to protect and preserve this incredibly important building and it’s valuable contents.
St Clements students rely on this wonderful resource to be able to pass their exams and we do get stellar results at our school in Kwama. I doubt if many schools in Sierra Leone own can boast such a wonderful Library.

AFTER PHOTOS. The wonderful nurses and midwives living at Pepel Health Centre now have four lovely bathrooms with flushing toilets, showers, sinks and standing taps, which they use to fill buckets for various purposes. Everyone is beyond happy!!! Thank you so much to our amazing donors who came to our aid to put this right, ###
