As part of the ongoing implementation of the Inclusive Networks Supporting Peaceful Information & Responsible Engagement (INSPIRE) Project, the Agency for Integrated Development Sierra Leone (AID-SL), in partnership with the Action for Advocacy and Development Sierra Leone (AAD-SL) and with support from the European Union, convened a Project Implementation Committee (PIC) Meeting on 20th April 2026 in Kenema.

The engagement commenced with a field visit to Largo Jassawabu community, followed by a formal meeting at the AID-SL office, bringing together key stakeholders and project staff. Deliberations focused on reviewing project progress, addressing implementation challenges, strengthening coordination, and planning upcoming activities.

Project Coordinator, Mr. Lansana Mansaray, underscored the importance of unity and responsible civic engagement, emphasizing that political affiliation should not serve as a source of division among citizens.

Participants highlighted collaboration, transparency, and community ownership as essential pillars for the project’s success. In his closing remarks, the Town Chief reaffirmed his commitment to supporting effective project implementation.

The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment from all stakeholders to ensure the successful delivery of the INSPIRE Project across target communities.

The Agency for Integrated Development Sierra Leone (AID-SL), in collaboration with the Kailahun District Council and with support from the European Union in Sierra Leone, convened a policy dialogue on November 13, 2025, at the Kailahun District Council Hall under the EU co-funded project “Empowering Kailahun District Council for Enhanced and Inclusive Service Delivery.”

The dialogue brought together a rich and diverse group of participants, including youth leaders from various youth networks, representatives from all Chiefdom Youth Councils, councilors, community leaders, and district authorities.

The event focused on four critical issues: youth engagement and empowerment, substance abuse prevention, gender equality, and women’s rights.

The dialogue created an opportunity for young people to take part in real decision-making conversations, while also helping duty bearers deepen their understanding of youth and women’s rights. Participants held open, honest discussions and worked together on how to put the National Youth Strategy into action and address the gender challenges affecting communities across Kailahun District.

Through this effort, we continue to demonstrate our commitment to youth empowerment, women’s rights, and inclusive local governance in Sierra Leone. Our goal remains the same: to support sustainable community development and ensure that young people have a genuine voice in shaping the policies that affect their everyday lives.

The Agency for Integrated Development Sierra Leone (AID-SL), in collaboration with the Kailahun District Council and with support from the European Union in Sierra Leone, has concluded a three-day training on Civic Education, Leadership, Governance, Participatory Accountability, Conflict Management, and Crime Prevention under the EU co-funded project “Empowering Kailahun District Council for Enhanced and Inclusive Service Delivery.”

The training brought together youth leaders from 20 youth networks, including persons with disabilities, as well as representatives from 15 Chiefdom Youth Councils and the District Youth Council.

Mr. Sylvester Kien, AID-SL’s Business Development and Compliance Manager, encouraged participants to serve as agents of positive change and champions of inclusive governance and accountability within their communities.

This initiative reinforces AID-SL’s ongoing commitment to promoting youth empowerment and inclusive local governance across Sierra Leone.

The Agency for Integrated Development, Sierra Leone (AID-SL), in collaboration with the Kailahun District Council and with support from the European Union (EU), joined the global community in commemorating International Youth Day 2025.

The event, held at the Kailahun District Council Hall, brought together youth representatives from all 15 Chiefdom Youth Councils. It formed part of the ongoing EU-funded project, “Empowering the Kailahun District Council for Enhanced and Inclusive Service Delivery,” with a specific focus on strengthening the effective functioning of these youth structures.

The forum served as a crucial platform for young leaders to share experiences, review the progress of their respective chiefdom development plans, identify challenges, and coordinate strategies for collective action and sustained community engagement.

In his remarks, AID-SL Project Coordinator, Mr. Ibrahim Kalilu Foday, urged participants to remain focused, determined, and committed to national development. He emphasized the vital role of youth in fostering inclusive and accountable governance, particularly at the grassroots level.

This initiative supports Sierra Leone’s broader commitment to youth empowerment and inclusive service delivery as essential pillars of sustainable development.
