How does a community choose its own future?

Ever wondered how our community partners decide which project to take on next?

At One Village Partners, we don’t make that choice—the community does. Through our LEARN session (Listen, Engage, and Realize Need), community members come together for a week-long deep dive to map their resources and identify their top challenges.

Using a collaborative tool called Pair-Wise Ranking, everyone gets the chance to vote and have a voice in ranking project ideas based on what they need most. It’s participatory development in action!

Local Leaders, Lasting Impact: Transforming Water Access Together

Access to clean, safe water is a fundamental right, yet many rural communities across Sierra Leone still face significant hurdles in securing it.

We believe the best solutions are built from the ground up. That’s why we partner closely with communities to form local Water Management Committees! These dedicated teams lead the change by providing vital public health education and managing their community water facilities.

Our technical staff member, Mannah Koroma, recently facilitated refresher trainings across 11 partner communities to ensure these vital water systems thrive for generations to come.

Health First: Ngeihun Malema’s Vision for a Cleaner Future
As the rainy season arrives in Sierra Leone, protecting community health becomes more important than ever.

To prevent waterborne illnesses and other common outbreaks, many communities have made safe, clean sanitation their top priority. This year, the people of Ngeihun in Malema Chiefdom are taking decisive action by aiming to build 18 new latrines to improve local hygiene and health!

Their proactive leadership and unity are inspiring. Want to see how we partner with communities to advance health and sanitation?

150 Women, 3 Communities, Endless Potential.

Congratulations, graduates! 🎓

We are thrilled to share that 150 women across Konta, Manonkoh, and Rosente in Bombali District have officially completed Phase 1 of our Nurturing Opportunities for Women (NOW) program.

After six months of financial and leadership training, these women are now equipped to manage businesses, achieve financial stability, and work with their families and communities to improve gender equity.

As they transition into Phase 2 of the NOW program to deepen their knowledge about running a business, we celebrate their dedication to driving sustainable, household-level change that will create more opportunities for generations to come.

Join us in congratulating these inspiring graduates!

Dreaming Together: How NOW is Transforming Family Finances
True financial empowerment doesn’t just change a budget—it strengthens a home!

Our Nurturing Opportunity for Women (NOW) program does more than teach financial literacy; it builds deep trust and teamwork between husbands and wives to plan for a brighter tomorrow. Aminata Linda Koroma recently shared how these savings lessons completely shifted her family's future.

Stronger Together: Advancing Safeguarding with MCLD Sierra Leone.
True community-led development is all about collaboration and support. As a proud leading partner of the Movement for Community-Led Development (MCLD) in Sierra Leone, we recently had the privilege of organizing and facilitating a one-day capacity-strengthening workshop in Makeni.

Led by our Community Action Program Supervisor, Lossie Konneh, the session focused on safeguarding practices to ensure that vulnerable individuals are always safe, respected, and protected in our collective work.

When we share knowledge, we build stronger and safer communities together!

When women have access to training and resources to manage their finances, entire households and communities thrive!

In Konta and Rosinte, our Nurturing Opportunities for Women (NOW) training is already sparking a mindset shift on when to spend and when to save. Participants are gaining the skills and confidence to effectively manage their finances, paving the way for lasting economic independence and growth.

Don’t just take our word for it—listen to what the women themselves have to say about their journey!
