The future of Sierra Leone and Africa depends on the kind of youth we build today.

The Student Anti-Violence Movement Sierra Leone (SAVM-SL) is a growing youth-led peace movement committed to promoting peace, discipline, unity, leadership, anti-drug advocacy, and positive social transformation among students and young people across Sierra Leone.

At a time when violence, drug abuse, bullying, indiscipline, and hopelessness continue to threaten the future of our generation, SAVM-SL stands as a voice of hope, responsibility, and national development.

Our mission is to raise a new generation of young leaders — future Presidents, Lawyers, Doctors, Ministers, Police Officers, Soldiers, Teachers, and changemakers — who will build a peaceful, disciplined, and progressive nation.

Through peace campaigns, school outreach, leadership training, anti-drug sensitization, community service, and youth empowerment initiatives, we are working to transform lives and restore hope among students and communities.

We believe that peace is not only the responsibility of government, but the responsibility of every student, parent, institution, organization, and citizen.

We therefore welcome:
• Schools & Universities
• NGOs & Civil Society Organizations
• Government Institutions
• International Partners & Donors
• Youth Organizations
• Media Platforms
• Community Leaders
• Volunteers & Supporters

to partner with us in building a safer and better Sierra Leone for all.

Together, we can turn student voices into a powerful force for peace, leadership, and national transformation.

JOIN THE MOVEMENT.
PROMOTE PEACE.
INSPIRE CHANGE.

Conrad Sackey - Minister of Basic and Senior Secondary Education Ministry of Basic and Senior Secondary Education SL

PUBLIC NOTICE: DISCLAIMER OF FAKE CIRCULAR IN CIRCULATION

The Ministry of Basic and Senior Secondary Education (MBSSE) wishes to inform the general public, school authorities, teachers, parents, pupils, and education stakeholders that a document currently circulating on social media and other online platforms titled “Banning of All School Camping Within School Premises for All Registered Private and Government Schools in Sierra Leone,” purportedly issued by the Ministry on 6 March 2026, is FAKE and did not originate from the Ministry.

The Ministry categorically states that no such circular or press release has been issued by the Ministry of Basic and Senior Secondary Education regarding the banning of school camping within school premises.

While the document in circulation is fraudulent, the Ministry wishes to clarify that it is aware of growing public concerns and reports regarding the practice of “camping” and the activities of examination-related syndicates in some schools. These matters are currently under review as part of the Ministry’s ongoing efforts to strengthen quality assurance, professional standards, and the integrity of the education system.

However, the Ministry has not yet issued any official circular or press release on this matter. Any formal policy directive or regulatory decision will be communicated through the Ministry’s official and verified channels once the ongoing consultations and assessments are concluded.

Members of the public are therefore strongly advised to disregard the circulating document in its entirety, as it is misleading and unauthorized. The circulation of unofficial documents falsely attributed to the Ministry creates unnecessary confusion within the education sector and undermines public trust in official government communications.

The Ministry wishes to emphasize that all official communications, circulars, and policy directives from MBSSE are disseminated through authorized and verified platforms, including:
• Official communications from the Ministry to school authorities
• Verified government and Ministry media channels
• Formal press statements issued by the Ministry’s Communications Directorate

School heads, teachers, parents, and the general public are encouraged to verify any education-related directive directly with the Ministry before acting upon it.

The Ministry of Basic and Senior Secondary Education remains committed to protecting the integrity of the education system, upholding professional standards in schools, and ensuring that all policies affecting learners and schools are communicated responsibly and transparently.

Happy International Women’s Day! 🌍✨

Today, the Student Anti-Violence Movement Sierra Leone (SAVM-SL) celebrates the strength, resilience, and achievements of women around the world.

Women are leaders, peacebuilders, educators, and changemakers. Their voices, rights, and contributions must always be respected, protected, and amplified.

Today’s STAVIM-SL weekly meeting, held at Government Model School, brought together committed chapter members in a united front against the rising issues of drugs and violence in our schools.

STAVIM-SL Outreach Meeting Report At MGHS

Today, the Students Anti-Violence Movement Sierra Leone (STAVIM-SL) held a powerful and engaging outreach session at Methodist Girls High School (MGHS) featuring pupils from various schools across Freetown. The meeting centered on three core themes:

1. Drug Awareness
2. Self-Awareness
3. Public Speaking Competition Vol. 2

Our executive team passionately addressed the alarming rise in drug abuse, particularly substances like Kush, urging students to choose purpose over peer pressure. We emphasized the importance of self-awareness — understanding one’s value, potential, and role in shaping a better Sierra Leone.

The highlight of the event was the Public Speaking Competition Vol. 2, where selected students bravely took the stage to express ideas, inspire peers, and showcase the power of youth voice.

As STAVIM-SL, we remain strongly committed to standing against all forms of violence and drug abuse. We believe that students today are the nation’s future, and it is our duty to steer them toward a path of excellence, integrity, and purpose.

Together, we rise. Together, we build.
