We did not start this, and we are not its cause. Much of it happened before our birth; some of it happens now in our presence. We have tasted its pain, lost loved ones, watched babies abused, seen innocent children violated, and watched systems become corrupt. Some ask us to vote for violence. Some try to buy our loyalty with money. Some ask us to attack others in the name of allegiance.

Today we say, no more. Never again. We will not let war creep in. We will not let drugs take hold of our country. We will resist every system that speaks violence, with our voices, our pens, and our actions. Our forefathers may have known these wounds, but we stand firm to stop them from repeating.

As young people of Sierra Leone, we will stop waiting to be invited. We will set the table ourselves, speak honestly with one another, and hold ourselves accountable. We can change the narrative by sensitizing our communities and saying: end violence, end conflict, end anything that threatens a stable society.

Today we walk from PZ to Cotton Tree with over twenty youth-led groups, different perspectives, one shared goal: a peaceful nation and a peaceful world.

Let the youths lead. They can, and they will.

Building Leaders, Sustaining Peace: PAN Marks International Day of Peace

The Patriotic Advocacy Network Sierra Leone (PAN) joins the world in celebrating the International Day of Peace by renewing its commitment to raising leaders with vision and a peaceful mindset.

Over the years, PAN has staged impactful initiatives geared towards peacemaking and peacebuilding across the country and the world at large. From the Patriot Campaign to the Building a Nation Campaign with the resonant slogan “Peace Fɔ Dae”, the National Peace Marathon and the annual peace walk with SHE4PEACE.

PAN has consistently championed unity and dialogue as the foundation for national progress.

This year, the network is tailoring its peace message around effective leadership as the cornerstone for maintaining and sustaining peace. PAN believes that when leaders embody values of tolerance, accountability, and vision, they create a ripple effect that strengthens peace within communities, the nation, and the world at large.

As we commemorate this global day of peace, PAN calls on every Sierra Leonean to embrace leadership that uplifts, unites, and inspires, because true peace can only be achieved and sustained when guided by leaders who put people first.
