Field Epidemiology Graduates on the Frontline 🇸🇩

Amid ongoing health challenges especially in conflict-affected areas, the FETP stands out as a cornerstone for sustaining the health system.
What distinguishes this program is not only scientific knowledge, but also the high level of adaptability its graduates acquire, enabling them to continue fieldwork and lead responses under the most difficult conditions.
Our Graduate Manhal Hassan (Director of Health Emergencies) continues to exemplify this role with excellence in the far reaches of Northern State , Al-Burqiq locality.
She persistently works to strengthen the epidemiological surveillance system, investigate cases, and collect and analyze data in the field with high professionalism particularly amid the spread of dengue fever and malaria in the state.
This dedication reflects the essence of the training received by graduates: the ability to make evidence-based decisions at the heart of events.
Sustaining the supply of field epidemiology professionals within the health system remains the true guarantee for combating epidemics and protecting community health.

Salute to the field epidemiology frontline workers across Sudan and the nation as a whole.

You are making the difference.

Last Saturday, we had one of the most powerful webinar sessions with Dr. Sayed Himatt (Public Health Consultant and One Health Advisor). He guided us through the vital role field epidemiologists play in implementing the One Health approach.

The session explored how integrating human, animal, and environmental health is crucial for detecting and responding to outbreaks especially in settings like Sudan. We learned how field epidemiologists act as the link between sectors, finding early signals, coordinating response, and helping prevent future epidemics.

Dr. Sayed actually shared with us a lot if real-life scenarios and strategies for teamwork between ministries and professionals to build better preparedness in Sudan. In the lively discussion, a lot of experts shared their thoughts about how and how much we need One Health collaboration to tackle emerging threats like zoonotic diseases outbreaks.
