George's POV

안녕하세요 or Annyeonghaseyo!!❤️

My name is George, I am a fifth-year medical student and this summer I had the amazing opportunity to have a SCOPE clerkship in South Korea.

Now, having to write about this experience is really hard because of the numerous things that happened during the exchange.

First of all, I was placed in Korea University, Seoul LC, but my accommodation and hospital were in Ansan, a city on the outskirts of Seoul. It was a little bit difficult because of the distance to Seoul (almost 1 hour and half by subway) but there was the biggest center from South Korea of ENT where I had my internship.

Regarding the academic experience, it was simply one of the best things. The program was every day from 8 AM to 3-4 PM, depending on the surgeries from that day. I had part of a beautiful team that welcomed, and took really good care of me. Even though there was a pretty big language barrier, all the doctors were really calm, tried to explain to me all the surgical procedures I was watching.

There I had also the opportunity to take part in my first surgery as an active participant, and not just as an observer. They really put so much effort in making my experience a really memorable one, and with these said, I can just thank them! ❤️

George's POV

Regarding the social program, each incoming had allocated two Contact Persons, who were in charge creating the social program for him. With my CPs we had 4 or 5 activities during the month, one per week aproximately. Staying in Ansan was a little struggle because I was not that available to go whenever I wanted in Seoul. We did not have any Upon Arrival Training or workshops organised, National Food and Drinks Party, but me and other incomings from different LCs, we managed to do our social program to be unforgettable.

From the usual Korean meals, where we tried the amazing food (Bingsu, the snowflake icecream, Kimbap, Bulgogi, Kimchi jigae, Dak-Galbi, Tteokbokki, Mandu, Pajeon) to riding the bikes along the Hangang River, watching the lights show from the Banpo Bridge, getting dressed in the traditional costumes “Hanboks”, Clubbing nights in Itaewon (one of the club

Viorica's POV

Hello everyone! 🇹🇷

My name is Viorica and this summer I had the chance to be part of a SCORE exchange at the Science and Advanced Technologies Research Center in Medeniyet University Istanbul. 🇹🇷

The project:

The month passed by so fast in there learning everyday and working with the most awesome researchers and fellow colleagues. It was truly a special experience because I was allowed to participate in active research and observe animal experiments, lab techniques and interpretation of data.

The people:

I am grateful for all the professors that showed us things we’ve never seen before and explained everything. They truly showed us the lab life.

I am mostly glad I met another students there that made my exchange complete. A big thank you to my Turkish friends! May we meet again🫶.

The social program:

was not really a part of my experience because the local committees in Turkey don’t have enough people and don’t organize activities the way we do in Romania. They have National Trips but I didn’t participate in any of them.

We did our own program and we visited every part of Istanbul in our free time, bonus a trip to Bursa in a weekend.

Last but not least: the food.

One of the best cuisines so far. Everybody knows the Turkish spices, Turkish delight or Turkish coffee. Their food is an experience of its own, from lahmacun to döner, from kunefe to katmer, everyone has to visit Turkiye just for the food.

But let’s not forget my favourite part of their lunch: ayran! Everything with meat goes with it and it’s really good for your health, no wonder everyone drinks it anywhere, anytime.

At the end of the month I was able to call Istanbul my home, a place where I will return with great happiness because it had offered me one of the best experiences from my studency. ❤️

Narcisa's POV

Selamat datang!! 🇮🇩

😊 My name is Narcisa, and I am a 5th-year medical student. I had the amazing opportunity to spend the month of July in Surabaya, Indonesia, as part of my exchange at Airlangga University Hospital (Rumah Sakit Universitas Airlangga).

🏥 First, let me tell you about my clinical experience.

I was placed in the Anesthesia Department, where I worked alongside a great team. My daily schedule started at 7:30 AM, and every day I observed in the operating rooms 💉.

I had the chance to see fascinating cases like ear reconstruction and uterine leiomyoma. My supervisor was an incredibly patient doctor who walked me through procedures like intubation, tracheostomies and more.

🤩 Cause I finished with serious things, I’ll tell you that Indonesia exceeded my expectations!

I experienced one of the best months of my life. From trips to cities like Yogyakarta, Jakarta, and Malang, to exploring Mount Bromo 🌋, Merapi Volcano, and Pindul Cave, every moment was memorable.

We rappelled 60 meters down Jomblang Cave with ropes 󰩤, woke up at midnight to catch the Bromo sunrise in freezing 4x4 Jeep rides 🥶🛻, and chilled at a rooftop beach club in Surabaya 🏙.

🥳 Our program included special events like a Welcome Party, UAT, the Malang trip, and the NFDP.

In our free time, all the incomings went to arcades 🎮, traveled to Yogyakarta together, rode scooters everywhere 🛵, and enjoyed late-night Mie Goreng at local warungs 🍛 or our special Sushi Hiro 🍱.

✨ And the best part were the people.

I met wonderful people and made friendships for life 💙. All the incomings together were an amazing group with a mix of cultures and personalities. It was a month full of memories, laughs, and adventures 󰺗.

I definitely recommend Surabaya, Indonesia for an Exchange! 😌

Terima kasih, I’ll definitely come back!

Sampai jumpa! ❤️

Ștefania's POV

🇩🇪 Hallo from Germany! ✨

I’m Ștefania, a 4th-year medical student from Romania, and this September I had the opportunity to spend an amazing month in Greifswald, Germany, at the Institute of Hygiene and Environmental Medicine. ❤

🩺 During my internship, I got to explore different departments, from laboratories and clinical research to travel medicine. I also had the opportunity to examine patients, take part in a school medical check-up, attend a food hygiene and safety training and participate in the Port Health and Infection Control Conference. It was a great chance to see how public health and medicine work in a different healthcare system.

❤ Everyone at the institute was incredibly kind and welcoming. I never felt like I didn’t belong, and I was genuinely surprised by how open everyone was to teaching us and getting to know us. I also got to experience how different the German healthcare system can be compared to Romania.

🏡 I shared the experience with Delia, another Romanian medical student, and one of the best parts was that we became very good friends. Outside the internship, we made the most of our weekends, visiting Rostock, Copenhagen, Hamburg and Berlin. ✈

🌍 This experience meant much more to me than just an internship. It helped me step outside my comfort zone, discover a new culture and healthcare system, meet wonderful people and create memories I will always cherish.

A special thank you to Prof. Dr. Hübner and everyone at the institute for making us feel so welcome! 🫶

✨ Would I recommend an international exchange? Absolutely! It is an experience that gives you much more than medical knowledge — it gives you confidence, friendships and memories for a lifetime.

Danke, Greifswald, for an unforgettable month! ❤🇩🇪

Catrinel’s POV
Hello! My name is Catrinel, and I was with SCOPE in Curitiba, Brazil, in August. 🇧🇷
🏥 Regarding the hospital, I was placed in General Surgery at Cajuru University Hospital, where I had a truly wonderful learning experience. The doctors were very kind and welcoming, and they encouraged us to actively participate in surgeries while explaining everything along the way. I really appreciated how involved they allowed us to be, as it made the experience both educational and memorable.
🇧🇷 Regarding the city, if you are considering Brazil for your exchange, I would definitely recommend Curitiba. I personally found it to be safer than some other places in Brazil, and there is also a great community of incomings. The local team organized one social activity per week, while during the rest of our free time, we could explore the city and plan activities with our host families or the other incomings.
🚎 As for the national trips, I went on two of them, one in Curitiba and one to Rio de Janeiro. Both were very well organized, and they were a great opportunity to discover the Brazilian culture and some of the most beautiful places I’ve ever seen.
❤️ Overall, I completely fell in love with Brazil and with the people there. Everyone was so welcoming and made the whole experience truly wonderful. There is so much more I could say, but, briefly, I would really encourage you to take the leap and fly to the other side of the world. It is absolutely worth it! ✈️🌎

Maria’s POV
Looking back at my clinical exchange in Malta, I can easily say it was one of the most enriching months of my medical student life! Here is a glimpse into what making memories in the heart of the Mediterranean looks like:
🏥 Hospital Experience My placement was in the ENT (Otorhinolaryngology) department at Mater Dei Hospital. The medical team was welcoming, fluent in English, and eager to teach. I got to observe complex head and neck surgical procedures, scrub in for minor interventions, and scrub into busy outpatient consultations. The doctors actively explained cases, made sure we understood clinical decisions, and encouraged hands-on learning whenever possible.
🎉 Social Program The local student committee organized an incredible social calendar! From sunset beach gatherings and International Food Nights to boat parties and group dinners, there was never a dull moment. It was the perfect environment to bond with fellow medical students from all over the globe, making lifelong friends from day one.
⛵ National Trips & Exploring Even though Malta is a small island nation, it is packed with breathtaking destinations! We took unforgettable weekend trips to Gozo and Comino. Swimming in the crystal-clear turquoise waters of the Blue Lagoon, wandering through the silent medieval streets of Mdina, and exploring the historic fortresses of Valletta felt straight out of a postcard.
🍝 Culture & Food Malta’s rich history shines through its unique blend of Mediterranean and Arabic influences. The food scene is fantastic—you must try fresh local pastizzi (flaky pastries filled with ricotta or peas), ftira bread, and fresh seafood by the harbour in Marsaxlokk. The island’s warm, sunny vibe makes every day feel like a summer dream.
🌟 Overall Impression & Pro Tips This exchange was the ideal balance of high-quality clinical practice and vibrant summer exploration. I came back home with enhanced medical knowledge, great memories, and international friendships.

Apply for your exchange—you won’t regret it!

Mihai’s POV

Hola amigos!
Mihai here, a former 6th year med student, and I decided that an exchange in Salamanca, Spain, would be the perfect final sidequest before finishing my studies. And oh boy was I right. Let’s start with the hospital, very modern, very big (I did get lost once) and good food at the cafeteria. I did my exchange on Thoracic Surgery, which even though not my first choice was amazing, I was lucky to have almost all the doctors speak in English (thank god I also know some Spanish though). I managed to see a lot of surgeries, from trauma all the way to lung transplants. Everybody in the hospital was incredibly friendly, it felt like they were my friends, not tutors (this was what made it hard when leaving), and they showed and explained a lot of things to me, and also assisted some procedures.
About Salamanca, oh boy where do I begin, firstly it is super walkable, and I mean not needing a bus walkable. The Old Town is incredibly beautiful, with an amazing architecture and a charm specific to Spanish cities. Anybody who chooses to come here must visit as much of the city as possible (and my challenge for you is to find the frog on the front of the main university building). Something that just made the experience that much more amazing was witnessing the solar eclipse from the river along with one of my doctors who I met there. The food was amazing, a lot of variety and to be honest I wish I was able to eat a lot more and not have my stomach ache, and the drinks amazing (1-2€ tinto de verano and 2-3€ b**r). I did not have a social program, but that just allowed me and my two other roommates to just go out and plan whatever whenever we want (that included almost nightly drinking yay balkans).
In the end, Salamanca made me feel at home, it was one of the best experiences I ever had, I still feel it in me the bittersweetness when I last said goodbye to everyone at the hospital. The only message I have for you is to just use this opportunity to go somewhere with the exchange, no matter your year of study (nb l am not the only 6th year student to ever apply for the exchange), because you’ll never know what life has in store f
