Station Europe

Station Europe Station Europe is a tech-savvy NGO with programs, networks, and initiatives that focus on civil society, the environment, creativity and the digital world.

We proudly represent the voices of youth in Europe 💪 through creative projects and initiatives that bring out a fantastic mixture between tech&digital knowledge, creativity, resilience and green skills. 💚 Our mission is to give young generations the power to bring useful ideas to life and to create stories that celebrate diversity and inspire communities to act for a democratic and sustainable fut

ure. We focus on building initiative groups and networks of partners that share knowledge and resources, being empowered to make decisions and take action together, such as:

Creators for Change – a vibrant and inclusive group of young activists committed to using the latest technology and digital platforms to create impactful campaigns that raise awareness on climate justice, food waste, gender equality, and human rights. This group was recognised as one of Romania's top 10 initiatives dedicated to young people and was selected as one of Europe's top 5 Active Citizenship initiatives by the European Youth Award. Understanding Europe – a young women-led group of social initiators as part of Understanding Europe, an educational network of 14 European countries, which delivers in Romania around 80 workshops yearly to +2470 students in schools and libraries, promoting European values and gender equity. It promotes and advises on educational projects committed to civic participation and a democratic and open-minded Europe. Station Europe has extensive experience in working with user-generated content strategies. We created the Vlogging Academy for Sustainability – a modular project designed for children and young people from rural areas, providing a space where they can collaborate, learn, and create valuable materials on topics such as food waste, climate change, democracy, and active citizenship. Through this program, they learn how to use social media elements to raise awareness about the issues they care about. We rapidly design our communication actions and create the media materials to be distributed with the help of our media production studio. Useful. – a media production studio designed for social businesses, social innovation programs, activists, content creators, and NGOs in need of integrated communication services. Its mission is to bring creative minds and leaders together to create, collaborate, and share high-quality content about the future that we want to experience. At Station Europe, we are committed to re/connecting young people with nature and promoting a sustainable lifestyle. We develop programs and initiatives that support conservation and sustainability, raise awareness about the importance of nature, and provide education and training on environmental topics. In 2023, our organization was elected as a core member of the Digital Working Group within the Harnessing Talent Platform (HTP), launched by the European Commission DG REGIO. Our mandate runs from November 2023 to May 2026. As a core member, our role is focused on harnessing digital talent, fostering innovation, and promoting collaboration to support the development of regions across Europe. This is Station Europe.

European Youth Week has started, and we are in Brussels.
Around 1,000 young people are here, bringing their questions, ideas, and energy into the same space.

For us at Station Europe, this is what participation looks like in practice. People showing up, listening, disagreeing, building on each other, and trying to make sense of what comes next.

Library in the Park 💚

We know how much we need to be together. To pause for a moment. To read a few pages. To say something. To listen. To play. To simply be.

Today is Station Europe’s day. We turn 6.
Coincidence or not, today is also Librarian Day. Coincidence or not, today we are in Brussels, in the place where everything started for us. Coincidence or not, today we remembered an idea we discussed together with the librarians from the fellowship.

So we are launching Library in the Park.

What is Library in the Park
Library in the Park is a community intervention through which we bring people together and an invitation to connect with nature through reading, conversation, and play.

What we offer
For the first edition, Station Europe will select two partner libraries in Romania. Each library will receive two picnic kits, designed to support a series of outdoor activities. Each kit includes a large blanket, a mobile book stand, cushions, umbrellas, a selection of books, and a set of board games. In addition, the libraries will receive a voucher for snacks, so that each meeting feels welcoming for participants.

If you work in a library and want to bring this to your community, we invite you to apply.

Good morning, Bucharest.

12 young activists. 8 communities.
A few days to turn real questions into stories people can see and respond to.

This is how School of Protest starts.

School of Protest is a community-based action part of the
Mediterranean Youth in Action programme, implemented by the Anna Lindh Foundation. The
programme serves as a platform for young community leaders to realise grassroots initiatives
that inspire community-led solutions to address home needs and promote inclusion across the
Euro-Med region.

We reached 11 communities across the country with our board game, 0 KG.

We facilitated 49 game sessions with over 600 young people, in schools, libraries, and community spaces.

We started with a simple question, what do we actually do with our food?
From there, conversations opened up about habits, daily choices, and things we usually overlook.

0 KG is an educational and conversational board game about choices and food waste. The game simulates one year in the life of a family or a group of friends, in 12 rounds. Each round brings decisions that naturally lead to discussions about how we buy, consume, and what ends up being thrown away.

We will continue in new communities.

What a beautiful experience the first edition of the Librarians Fellowship has been. 💙

Together with the four librarians selected from the 148 applications we received, we travelled to Vienna for a study visit at the Austrian National Library. We spent time in the State Hall, one of the most impressive historic library halls in the world, and had the chance to better understand how an institution that has preserved and shared knowledge for centuries works today.

We visited Albertina and Albertina Modern. At the exhibition Monet to Picasso we saw works by Picasso and Monet, of course, but also by Signac, Renoir, Modigliani, Klimt, Munch, Matisse, Cézanne and many others.

At the exhibition Fascination Paper – Rembrandt to Kiefer, the work by Anselm Kiefer, The Starry Sky Above Me and the Moral Law Within Me (1997), made us pause for a few minutes and simply look in silence.

We also visited the exhibitions Honoré Daumier – Mirror of Society and Dance Images, each offering another perspective on how art reflects the world we live in.

We visited St. Stephen’s Cathedral and Belvedere Palace, and between these places we had time for conversations about libraries, communities, and ideas that can take shape once we return home.

This visit brought us together around the same question: how can the library remain a meaningful place for the communities it serves?

The Librarians Fellowship is our way of supporting this question.

—
Through The Librarians Fellowship, we aim to support the professional growth of librarians, give them the recognition they deserve, and strengthen the role of libraries in the educational and democratic life of their communities.
Thank you! 💙

We spent the day at the Austrian National Library in Vienna.

Walking through this remarkable place, we let ourselves be inspired by its history, its cultural depth, and the story behind the State Hall, one of the most beautiful historic library halls in the world.

During our visit, we had the opportunity to explore the reading rooms, the book storage areas, and the workspaces, and to learn more about how such a large and historic institution works today.

For the librarians selected in The Librarians Fellowship, this visit was a chance to discover new perspectives and reflect on how libraries continue to shape communities.

Thank you to the Austrian National Library for the warm welcome, the generosity in sharing your work with us, and for the beautiful memories we take with us from this visit.

This fellowship is a sign of recognition and respect for the role that librarians play in our education, and an invitation to support those who, every day, make it possible for our minds and imagination to grow.

We have arrived in Vienna together with the librarians selected for The Librarians Fellowship.

We’re looking forward to beginning our study visits and learning from the experience of our colleagues here.

Through The Librarians Fellowship, we support librarians from Romania each year to visit a library in another country, to learn from the experience of peers, and to bring back inspiration and new ideas for their local community.

This fellowship is a sign of recognition and respect for the role that librarians play in our education, and an invitation to support those who, every day, make it possible for our minds and imagination to grow.

Creators for Change are in the building.

Today we stepped into the studio to turn ideas into action. Cameras on. Lights ready. Voices clear.

Something is coming.

As part of the What We Waste project, we’re preparing a campaign about food waste.
Stay tuned.
