ELSA Romania ELSA (The European Law Students' Association) is an international, independent, non-political, non-profit-making organization run by and for students.

ELSA is the world's largest independent, non-political and non-profit making law students' Association, with over 70.000 members present in 41 European countries. It is comprised of students and recent graduates who are interested in academic and personal excellence in addition to their studies at their universities. ELSA offers law students a perfect platform to develop their existing skills, acquire new skills and meet fellow students and legal professionals throughout Europe. Five law students from Austria, Hungary, Poland and West Germany founded ELSA in 1981. Today ELSA is the world's largest independent law students association and it is represented at nearly 350 law faculties in 44 countries across Europe with membership in excess of 70 000 students and young lawyers. ELSA-activities comprise a large variety of academic and professional events that are organized to fulfill the vision of ELSA and in order to provide our members opportunities to enhance their skills and to interact with each other. Furthermore ELSA provides its members opportunities to develop their skills through our traineeship programme as well as through our publications. Finally working in the ELSA-network prepares active members of ELSA for their professional life through international experience gained through the association.

Ready to step into the world of international trade law? 🤝

The John H. Jackson Moot Court Competition challenges students to put their knowledge into practice, while developing their advocacy skills and gaining experience in international dispute settlement.

Take part in one of six Regional Rounds across the world, compete against students from different legal backgrounds and jurisdictions, and, if you make it to the final, get the opportunity to plead at the WTO Headquarters in Geneva.

For fifteen editions, law students from across Europe have argued cases under the European Convention on Human Rights before leading experts in the field. Now, it’s your turn.

Compete with peers from across Europe and plead before the European Court of Human Rights.

The winning team is awarded a study visit at the European Court of Human Rights.
