On May 19th, in Vienna, JRS Romania participated in the final event of the “𝐅𝐢𝐧𝐄𝐝𝟒𝐍𝐏𝐎𝐬 – 𝐖𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐧’𝐬 𝐅𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡 – 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐍𝐏𝐎𝐬” 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭 — an initiative dedicated to improving access to financial education for wonen in vulnerable situations.

Funded by the European Union through Erasmus+, the project was implemented in Austria, Hungary, and Romania by:

🌱 𝐇𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐫𝐞𝐝𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐫𝐞𝐧 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐰𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐮𝐩 𝐛𝐞𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐞𝐲𝐞𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐉𝐑𝐒 𝐑𝐨𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐚 𝐭𝐞𝐚𝐦

Many of them have been with us for years. We remember them as very young children — attending creative workshops, language courses, children’s activities, or sessions with speech therapists and psychologists 💛

And over time, you begin to notice how children change. How they become more confident and open to the world. How small daily steps slowly turn into important achievements.

Kostya is one of “our children.”
We have been watching him grow for many years. And behind every one of his achievements, there is tremendous effort: regular sessions with a speech therapist, the daily care of his parents, patience, support, and love 🤝

For some people, this progress may seem small. But when you see a child regularly, you understand how much strength stands behind every new skill, every new word, and every little victory.

And perhaps one of the greatest joys in our work is being able to celebrate these moments together with the parents 🌱✨

Today, children from the JRS Romania Educational Center came dressed in vyshyvankas — traditional embroidered shirts that carry memories of home, family, traditions, and the history of an entire nation 💛

For Ukrainians, the vyshyvanka is a deeply symbolic garment. Through its patterns, generations passed on meanings, faith, strength, wishes for goodness, and protection. It is clothing that carries a connection to one’s roots 🌱

And today, this celebration holds even deeper meaning. Because even far from home, Ukrainians continue to preserve their culture, language, and traditions.

At JRS Romania, we deeply value this connection to one’s identity and heritage. We believe that true integration begins where there is respect for every person’s culture, history, and identity 🤝

Here, children and families can remain connected to who they are while also discovering a new language, a new culture, and a new society that has become a place of support during difficult times 🇷🇴

It is also especially meaningful that embroidered clothing holds an important place in Romanian culture as well. Traditional Romanian embroidered shirts, ornaments, and symbols sometimes beautifully echo Ukrainian ones — through colors, patterns, and a shared love for cultural heritage ✨

This is how mutual understanding is born — through culture, respect, and humanity 💙

💛 𝐖𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐢𝐬 𝐬𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭, 𝐡𝐨𝐩𝐞 𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐬

Before the war, little Vladyslav lived with his parents in the town of Fastiv, Kyiv region. Later, the family spent some time living in Albania, where his father was working. But due to family circumstances, they were forced to return to Ukraine.

By the winter of 2026, it became clear that staying there was no longer safe. Constant power and heating outages, the threat of shelling, and ongoing anxiety forced the family to urgently search for a safer place to live. That is how they arrived in Bucharest in January 2026.

Vladyslav will turn only 4 years old this June.

When he was just 3 months old, doctors diagnosed him with hydrocephalus. Since then, the family’s life has become a continuous effort to support his development: medical treatment, sensory integration therapy, group activities, and regular work with specialists. Every new step required enormous parental strength, patience, and daily dedication.

After moving to Romania, one of the greatest challenges for Iryna was finding specialists who could continue supporting Vladyslav in his native language.

This is how the family discovered JRS Romania through social media.

Today, Vladyslav attends sessions with a psychologist, a speech therapist, and group activities with children his age. And this support truly matters. Thanks to the continuous work of specialists and the immense love and dedication of his parents, his condition has improved and is no longer progressing. But regular therapy remains essential to prevent developmental regression and speech delays.

Today, many families raising children with special educational or developmental needs face similar challenges. The need for accessible psychological, speech, and developmental support is enormous. Unfortunately, there are now very few free programs available for such children, and families are often left alone with the responsibility of searching for specialists and covering the long-term costs of therapy themselves.

At JRS Romania, we believe that caring for children with special needs should not rest solely on the shoulders of parents. Every child deserves the opportunity to grow, learn, communicate, and feel accepted — regardless of circumstances, language barriers, or financial difficulties.
