We are a non-profit association that exists to integrate and protect the lives of migrants and refugees in the city of Lisbon.

We exist with the aim of supporting and integrating isolated migrants and refugees in the city of Lisbon. With a Christian ethos of respect for diversity and equity our purpose is to facilitate access to basic services, create employment opportunities and eliminate discrimination through intercultural exchanges regardless of skin, gender, ethnicity or religion. Our aim is to build a network of par

tnerships with existing institutions, working in collaboration to achieve a common goal of assisting migrants and refugees in Lisbon. Drawing on our community, we want to use our time, resources and skills to bring unity to Lisbon and a better quality of life to migrants and refugees in our city.

On June 19th, we are joining forces with CPR, JRS, Crescer, and Vitae for a World Refugee Day celebration that has never been done quite like this before.

Sometimes, the hardest part of arriving somewhere new is not the distance you have traveled. It is the paperwork waiting for you when you get there.

That is where our Bridge Team comes in.

Every day, our Bridge Team volunteers and staff sit alongside community members to help them make sense of bureaucratic processes, documents, registrations, and referrals. They ask the right questions, explain the next steps, and make sure no one has to face the system alone.

And because language should never be a barrier, we have Portuguese speakers available to help community members fully understand what is being asked of them and what support is available.

This is Lisbon Project doing things its own way: human, practical, and here for every step of the journey.

Bridge Team services are available in any day from 10:00–13:00 or 14:00–18:00 (Wednesdays until 20:00). No appointment needed. 🤍

Às vezes, a parte mais difícil de chegar a um lugar novo não é a distância que percorreste. É a papelada que te espera quando chegas.

É aqui que entra a nossa Bridge Team.

Todos os dias, os voluntários e colaboradores da Bridge Team sentam-se ao lado dos membros da nossa comunidade para os ajudar a compreender processos burocráticos, documentos, registos e encaminhamentos. Fazem as perguntas certas, explicam os próximos passos, e garantem que ninguém tem de enfrentar o sistema sozinho.

E porque o idioma nunca deve ser uma barreira, temos falantes de português disponíveis para ajudar os membros da comunidade a compreender plenamente o que lhes é pedido e que apoio está disponível.

Este é o Lisbon Project em ação: humano, prático, e presente em cada passo do caminho.

Os serviços da Bridge Team estão disponíveis todos os dias das 10:00 às 13:00 e das 14:00 às 18:00 (às quartas-feiras até às 20:00).

Our community had somewhere to be this month!

Students in our Education program gathered early, boarded a train, and made their way to the Convento de Cristo in Tomar, one of Portugal's most breathtaking landmarks and a window into centuries of Portuguese history and culture.

These Study Trips are part of how we understand integration at Lisbon Project. Language opens doors, but shared experiences build belonging. When our students and community members explore this country side by side, Portugal slowly stops being the place they arrived in and starts being the place they are from.

A heartfelt thank you to Sara, the volunteer who first dreamed up these trips while teaching Portuguese in one of our courses and has been organizing them with care, dedication, and heart ever since! We are so grateful you are part of this mission.

Belonging in practice. We cannot wait for the next adventure.

A nossa comunidade tinha um lugar para estar neste mês!

No passado domingo, a nossa comunidade reuniu-se cedo, apanhou o comboio e seguiu até ao Convento de Cristo em Tomar, um dos lugares mais deslumbrantes de Portugal e uma janela para séculos de história e cultura portuguesa.

As nossas Visitas de Estudo fazem parte de como entendemos a integração no Lisbon Project.

A língua abre portas, mas as experiências partilhadas constroem pertença. Quando os nossos alunos e membros da comunidade exploram este país lado a lado, Portugal deixa aos poucos de ser o lugar onde chegaram e começa a ser o lugar de onde são.

Um obrigado do coração a Sara, a voluntária que teve pela primeira vez a ideia destas visitas enquanto ensinava Português num dos nossos cursos e que as tem organizado com cuidado, dedicação e alma desde então! Estamos muito gratos por fazeres parte desta missão.

Pertença na prática. Mal podemos esperar pela próxima aventura.

Outbound Recruitment Coordinator (People & Culture)
Starting August 2026, 20-25 hours per week, hybrid.

Program Systems Assistant (Tech & Operations)
Starting July 2026, 20-25 hours per week, hybrid.

Employability Activities Coordinator (Employability Program)
Starting as soon as possible, 16-25 hours per week.

Welcome Volunteer (House & Welcome Team)
Starting as soon as possible, 6 hours per week.

On Friday was International Family Day - and we couldn’t let it pass without saying this:
Family looks different depending on where you’re from. It’s loud tables and quiet sacrifices. It’s the people who raised you and the people who found you. It’s the community you build when you’re far from home.

At Lisbon Project, we see every shape of family walk through our doors. And every single one belongs here.

We just released a short film about the four things we believe every person deserves: Welcome. Advocacy. Dignity. Security.

Every morning in Lisbon, people wake up in a place that is not yet home.

They are using a language they are still learning, carrying a story most people will never think to ask about.

This is where we begin.

The work is more than programmes, and more than policies. It begins with a commitment that we show up to honour every single day.
