For a Democratic Public Banking Service

An international campaign to replace the exploiting, corrupt and crisis-ridden financial industry with a democratic public banking service. Such a service would:
* End the debt-eviction of people from their homes and businesses
* Help stabilize the economy and establish democratic control over its operation
* Be an essential source of investment for sustainable development
* Form the core of a dem

ocratic plan for the economy
* Provide the transparency and accountability needed to end the corruption, fraud and tax evasion that is undermining the economy, public finances and political life
* Abolish charges for account holders and bank-to-bank transfers
* Deliver much cheaper interest for credit card holders (through public credit cards) and end card handling charges
* Produce better access to and lower charges on loans to customers and small businesses
* Offer special assistance for individuals and small businesses to help them to manage their finances and develop their plans
* Introduce a service to offer help and seed capital to inventors and innovators
* Place the financial industry under the democratic management of all of its participants including the bank staff, customers, small businesses, and the wider community
