Although the development of “physical” protection strategies against cyber attacks is fundamental, no protection is perfect, and insurers are intended to play a crucial role in providing financial protection. The cyber-insurance market is increasingly developing but with important uncertainties on the real value of the guarantees, due to the nature of the risk itself. The emerging and evolving nature of cyber-risk and its potential systemic component make it one of the most important social and economic risks and questions its insurability.

techniques are now more and more popular in the insurance industry and have a lot of applications such as, pricing, reserving, claims management and underwriting among others.

Whereas the advanced techniques usually have a better predictive power than e.g. Generalized Linear Models, their main drawback is that they are black-box and their results are difficult to understand/interpret which doesn’t always provide sufficient comfort to take business decisions.

In this webinar, we introduce some model interpretability tools and describe how they can be used to boost insights from data in , thanks to adequate features selection, features engineering and results interpretation. These interpretability make the use of machine learning much more relevant in insurance as it allows to improve the predictive power while understanding the drivers of the results; which is fundamental to take relevant business decisions.

A Associação Internacional de Actuários (IAA) tem o prazer de anunciar a publicação do documento "The Climate Change Adaptation Gap: An Actuarial Perspective" , elaborado pelo Grupo de Trabalho sobre Riscos Climáticos da IAA.

Este é o sexto de uma série de documentos planeados pelo Grupo de Trabalho sobre Riscos Climáticos da IAA e é oportuno na medida em que a adaptação foi um tema chave da COP27 que teve lugar no Egipto em Novembro de 2022. Os cinco documentos anteriores, juntamente com este documento e o Glossário associado e actualizado, estão disponíveis no sítio Web da IAA PUBLICATIONS/PAPERS/Climate Issues.

O objectivo deste documento é sensibilizar e ajudar os actuários (e outros) a compreender o papel que os actuários podem desempenhar no processo de tomada de decisões interdisciplinar relevante para a adaptação climática. Dada a escala dos riscos e oportunidades colocados pelas alterações climáticas e pela adaptação, os actuários têm um papel importante a desempenhar e, em relação aos seguros, pensões, investimentos e sistemas de segurança social, incluirá o aconselhamento sobre lacunas de protecção, vulnerabilidades, segurabilidade e resiliência.

O Grupo de Trabalho para os Riscos Climáticos organizará um webinar em Junho para apresentar este documento - os detalhes da inscrição serão anunciados em breve.
