🎙️ Faces of the Independent Sector - Interview number 5 with Céline Lepage, General Manager of FELIN - Fédération Nationale des Labels et Distributeurs Indépendants, is now live.

🌎 In this Earth Day edition of the series, Céline explains how independents can lead the ecological transition and highlights FÉLIN’s ReDisco project, a record (CDs and vinyl) recycling initiative that acts to protect the planet while rethinking how the music industry manages its inventory. The project has already recycled 1.2 million records. Céline also discusses the discoverability and AI challenges that face the independent sector and some of the actions that FÉLIN is taking in these areas.

Delays in clarifying EU rules on broadcasting & public performance revenues leads to Ireland changing legislation as a temporary measure. IMPALA calls on the EC to speed up its work to ensure European performers and labels do not lose revenues to countries who do not have the same level of protection, and urges the EU to use trade pressure to raise the level of protection worldwide.

Our statement includes important context about Ireland’s legislative change while the EC concludes its work on clarifying rules. Irish Minister Burke says: “I understand that a legislative proposal is being prepared to resolve this issue and we hope it will be published by early 2027.”
