Our Strategic Objectives:

Redemption International for the Blind Association operates both within Nigeria, CAC No. 158658, and overseas, especially, in Portugal, with Nif: 515204056. However, the following objects broadly represent our objectives as an international, non profit-making charitable organisation:
Objectives:

i. To help blind overseas students who come to Lisbon for further studie

s adapt quickly and fully integrate into and more particularly the metropolitan city of Lisbon; help them readjust to and understand cultural differences; assist with orientation, by enabling them to find their way about the city and make use of public transport; assist with day to day practicalities such as: where to find food stuffs they are familiar with; provide telephone and computer set up assistance; G.P. To provide a recreational facility in where blind and partially sighted persons resident within and around Lisbon can meet for community and relaxation, to help relieve them of depression and loneliness. Someone to talk to; music; audio described films; refreshments and snacks are just a few things which will be readily and freely available. Popular journals and articles that circulate within Lisbon shall be published either online on our website for accessibility to blind persons or may be distributed freely on CDs to those who may subscribe. Annually, we will host a party for all blind and partially sighted persons resident within and around Lisbon so as to encourage socialisation and foster cultural integration. To advance the education of the blind and partially sighted persons in Nigeria by the provision of a Computer Training, Braille Resource and Skills Acquisition Institute where the blind and the partially sighted persons in Nigeria shall have ample opportunity to acquire computer literacy, some of their relevant study materials transcribed into Braille and the unskilled assisted to acquire skills for productive living;
ii. To disburse bursaries to indigent blind and partially sighted persons whose parents are incapable of training by reason of incapacitation, situations of deprivation or poverty;
iii. To encourage a return to schooling by the blind and partially sighted persons who have hitherto taken to street begging as a means of livelihood;
iv. To enhance the general well being, dignity and living standards of the blind and partially sighted persons by the provision of some specialist equipments and facilities. The Institute when operational will transcribe all relevant study materials used in Nigerian schools into Braille to make education more accessible to the blind. We will locate and assist any blind Nigerian child who has been and who is unable to go to school due to financial hardship and help facilitate their attendance and education at school from primary to tertiary level. Those who cannot proceed beyond primary or secondary level will be assisted to acquire one skill or the other which will make them productive and self- reliant. vii. School children will also be assisted to acquire computer literacy which will help them improve in their academic performances making them able to access the internet for research as well as read their study materials electronically and ultimately deliver on work efficiency in their various offices when employed. For our beneficiaries and their parents, this will most certainly be a lifetime experience as it will mark a sharp departure from the impossibilities they currently are face with. viii. In order to make the Computer training in our Institute as effective and life enhancing as possible, it will be delivered through quality equipment and a high standard of low pupil/teacher ratio teaching. This will limit the number of children attending the institute at one time and therefore educational sessions will be concentrated and restricted to 6 to 12 month’s maximum in order to reach and equip as many as possible. On graduation, we will endeavour to equip them to face other life’s challenges ahead of them, through encouragement to believe in their unique abilities and talents. For those who would require the training for purposes purely academic, we will make their training flexible. The establishment of an ultra modern medical facility for research on measles and other eye related diseases as well as offering actual treatment particularly where such a treatment is likely to have positive impacts.
