Mirpuri Foundation has been incorporated by the Mirpuri Family as a non profit organization, set up by Paulo Mirpuri (1966-2026) with the aim of contributing for a better world.

Today we share the deeply sad news of the passing of our beloved founder, Paulo Mirpuri (1966-2026).

He inspired so many people, often without even realising it. The way he lived, with courage, determination, and a constant desire to do more and better, left a mark on everyone who crossed his path.

His impact reached far and wide. He helped shape the aviation industry, contributed to meaningful medical research, and supported expeditions that led to the discovery of new species and a deeper understanding of our planet. From the Caucasus and the protection of the Persian leopard to expeditions in Antarctica, his curiosity and commitment to the natural world never stood still.

Sailing was one of his great passions. It drove him to compete, to build teams, and to help grow the sport in Portugal. He also had a deep love for the arts and supported many institutions and creative communities.

There is so much more to say, and never enough words to fully express how many lives he touched and how much he changed.

We honour his memory by following his footsteps with courage, determination, and a commitment to always do more and better for the planet and for others.

Our Bluewater machine installed at the Clube Naval de Cascais has prevented an average of 15 000 plastic water bottles per year from ending up in our landfills and oceans.

This achievement represents a significant step forward in our commitment to sustainability and reducing plastic waste. By offering an alternative to single-use plastic bottles, we're not only providing access to clean drinking water but also helping to protect our oceans and environment. 💙

Today, on International Day of Climate Action, the Mirpuri Foundation stands together in the global effort to safeguard our planet, focusing on protecting ecosystems, wildlife, and marine life and promoting healthy oceans.

Climate change is causing global temperatures to rise, affecting habitats and wildlife around the world. Individual actions are essential in minimizing the impact of our daily lives, and choosing reusables, such as bottles, cups, and bags, helps reduce single-use plastics, which pose a serious threat to marine life and ecosystems. Being mindful of plastic consumption and making sustainable choices in daily life can make a real difference.

The Mirpuri Foundation supported the 4th IPDM Annual Conference on Sea-Level Rise and the Law of the Sea in Cascais, Portugal. Bringing together experts and policymakers, the event focused on legal challenges and supporting young scientists.

As the official sustainability partner, the Foundation provided reusable water bottles to all speakers, reinforcing its commitment to eliminating single-use plastics and promoting sustainable practices.

♻️🌊 Today we celebrate International Coastal Cleanup Day!

This summer, we teamed up with Hi Fly airline for a beach clean-up at Fonte da Telha, Almada, Portugal.

With the invaluable support of Almada City Council and SMAS de Almada, our volunteers removed litter from the coastline, helping to protect marine life and promote positive environmental action. 💪🌍

More than just a clean-up, it was a reminder that ocean conservation begins on land, and that every piece of waste we prevent from reaching the sea matters. 🐚

The Mirpuri Foundation participated in the World Ocean Summit Europe, held in Cascais, Portugal, reaffirming its ongoing commitment to the preservation of the world’s oceans and to advancing sustainable marine practices through active engagement in international forums.

Organized by Economist Impact’s World Ocean Initiative, the Summit, was built on key outcomes from the third UN Ocean Conference and brought a European perspective to this year’s edition, providing a platform for dialogue on healthy seas and sustainable growth.
