Our 2026 couldn’t have started on a better note!
We have two more Miyawaki forests in the making this year.
Thanks to the AdaptCascais 2026 Fund, we’ll be able to plant two new Miyawaki forests in the municipality of Cascais, helping bring more nature, biodiversity, and climate resilience to the area.
We’re currently taking care of the formal steps, and we’ll share more details as soon as everything is confirmed.

Stay tuned, exciting things are growing. 🌳

🍄 Cogumelos, cogumelos, cogumelos, mais um sinal claro de uma floresta saudável: o solo está vivo, os fungos estão ativos e o ecossistema subterrâneo da floresta já está a funcionar.

Sinceramente, não podíamos ter desejado um melhor começo para a nossa Floresta Miyawaki em Benfica. 💚

We went to check on our Fujitsu Miyawaki Forest and the little forest is thriving!
After the abundant rain of the past few weeks, the plants are growing strong and healthy.
We truly couldn’t have hoped for a better start for our Miyawaki Forest in Benfica. 💚

Porque é que plantamos entre outubro e fevereiro?

Porque este é o período em que as condições ecológicas oferecem às plantas jovens a maior probabilidade de sobrevivência.

Do outono ao inverno, a precipitação aumenta, o solo mantém-se naturalmente húmido e as plantas podem concentrar a sua energia no desenvolvimento das raízes, sem o stress do calor.

Raízes fortes formadas durante a estação das chuvas permitem que as plantas enfrentem a primavera e o verão com muito mais resiliência.

Em climas mediterrânicos como o de Lisboa, plantar fora deste período, especialmente na primavera tardia ou no verão, resulta frequentemente em elevada mortalidade, porque as plantas jovens não conseguem lidar com o calor, a evaporação e o stress hídrico.

Plantar nos meses de chuva significa trabalhar com os processos da natureza, garantindo que as nossas florestas se estabelecem com sucesso e crescem mais fortes ano após ano. 💚🌧️

Why do we plant between October and February?

Because this is the period when ecological conditions give young plants the highest probability of survival.

From autumn to winter, rainfall increases, soil stays naturally moist, and plants can focus their energy on root development instead of fighting heat stress.

Strong roots formed during the rainy season allow plants to face spring and summer with greater resilience.

In Mediterranean climates like Lisbon’s, planting outside this window, especially in late spring or summer, often leads to high mortality, because young plants cannot cope with heat, evaporation, and drought stress.

Planting in the rainy months means we are working with ecological processes, not against them, ensuring our forests establish successfully and grow stronger year after year. 💚🌧️

Breaking up the mulching material provided by Nam is somehow therapeutic and it’s one of our volunteers’ favourite activities! But let’s not forget the incredible benefits this amazing mulch brings to our forest. Thank you .mushroomfarm, for once again making our Miyawaki forests stronger and healthier!

Cuidar do nosso bairro e cuidar do futuro não têm idade.

Na passada sexta-feira, tivemos o privilégio de plantar lado a lado com um grupo de voluntários muito especiais, organizados pela Junta de Freguesia de Benfica. Juntaram-se a nós durante parte do dia, juntamente com colaboradores da Fujitsu e membros da comunidade, todos a ajudar na plantação da Fujitsu Miyawaki Forest em Benfica.

Um sincero obrigado por nos lembrarem que a ação, e a esperança, não têm idade. 🌱

Caring for your neighborhood and caring for the future have no age.

Last Friday, we had the privilege of planting side by side with a group of very special volunteers, organized by the Junta de Freguesia de Benfica. They joined us for part of the day, along with Fujitsu employees and community members, all helping to plant the Fujitsu Miyawaki Forest in Benfica.

A heartfelt thank you to them for reminding us that action and hope, have no age. 🌱

Hoje, com a ajuda dos colaboradores da Fujitsu, da comunidade de Benfica e de pessoas vindas de várias partes de Lisboa, demos vida a uma nova floresta Miyawaki: um símbolo vivo de colaboração, resiliência e esperança para as nossas cidades.

Juntos, plantámos 30 espécies nativas e criámos um novo espaço de biodiversidade no coração da cidade.

Today, with the help of Fujitsu employees, the community of Benfica, and people coming from all across Lisbon, we brought a new forest to life: a living symbol of collaboration, resilience, and hope for our cities.

Together, we’ve planted 30 native species and created a new pocket of biodiversity in the heart of the city.

💚 A heartfelt thank you to .global and to the Junta de Freguesia de Benfica for making this project possible, and to every volunteer who got their hands in the soil today.

On October 24th and 25th, Fujitsu will join Forest Impact and the Freguesia de Benfica to plant a Miyawaki Forest, a living symbol of how companies and communities can grow a sustainable future together.

As Fujitsu marks its 90th anniversary, this milestone reflects not only a history of innovation but also a continued commitment to responsibility, combining technology with ethical practices, environmental care, and social contribution.
