Gulbenkian Natural Heritage – COP17 in Armenia

The Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, through its Sustainability and Equity programme and in collaboration with the Armenian Communities Department, launches the Gulbenkian Natural Heritage initiative. It aims to bring greater visibility to the Foundation’s longstanding efforts in nature conservation and biodiversity protection, and also strengthen its future commitment to these areas, both in Portugal and Armenia.

The 17th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD COP17) will be held in Yerevan, Armenia, in October 2026. This provides a great opportunity to build bridges between Portugal and Armenia through the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation.

Job Recruitment: Part-time Event Manager

We are seeking to strengthen the team of the Armenian Communities Department, working in close coordination with the Zarmanazan Project Manager, the Director of CARM, and external partners, by recruiting an Event Manager who will be responsible for developing and implementing an integrated vision for the event.
Contractual Conditions: Part-time contract (May 2026 to December 2026). This role requires excellent organisational, planning, and logistical management skills, strong attention to detail, creativity, and the ability to manage multiple tasks independently. High levels of responsibility, reliability, and proactivity are also essential.

The Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation is seeking to strengthen the team of the Armenian Communities Service with an Event Manager.

📣“The 44-Day War: Armenia, Azerbaijan, and the Struggle for Nagorno-Karabakh” book launch with Vicken Cheterian, Laurence Broers and Armineh Ishkanian

⏰Thursday 28 May 2026 6:30 pm Armenian Institute, UK.

This volume, edited by Vicken Cheterian, brings together chapters written by multiple experts, interrogates the collapse of the 1994–2020 ceasefire regime, the failures of diplomacy and mediation, Armenia’s strategic miscalculations, and the consolidation of authoritarian power in Azerbaijan. It was published with open access by Bloomsbury Publishing and can be accessed in full online.

The book will be available for sale at the event.

The Cannes Film Festival will showcase five films from Artavazd Pelechian in its Cannes Classics section.

The program, “Pelechian Project,” will premiere recent restoration of LAND OF THE PEOPLE (1966), THE BEGINNING (1967), WE (1969), THE INHABITANTS (1970), and SEASONS (1975). Artavazd Pelechian will be attending in person.

The films are a Coproduction Office presentation restored in partnership with the Cineteca di Bologna under the supervision of Artavazd Pelechian. The restoration is in association with Cinema Foundation of Armenia, Public Television Company of Armenia, VGIK and Belarusfilm, with additional support from ZDF/ARTE, ArMa Media Production LLC, and the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation.

The Cannes Film Festival is scheduled to run from May 12 until May 23, 2026.

INALCO, Institut national des langues et civilisations orientales, in partnership with the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, is launching a call for applications for its Visiting Chair of Excellence as part of the International Master’s in Armenian Studies (IMAS).

The aim of the Visiting Chair of Excellence programme is to host a high-level researcher for a period of four to five weeks, in order to contribute to the academic and educational dynamism of the IMAS Master’s programme, whilst enhancing the international visibility of Armenian Studies.
