Kamil Khan Mumtaz, has been a leading influence in raising standards of architectural design and in the search for a contemporary, appropriate architecture for Pakistan responsive to climate, economy and materials yet rooted in the indigenous culture.
He was trained at the Architectural Association, London in the 1960's after which he returned to Pakistan to practice and teach. He was head of the of the National College of Arts, Lahore between 1966-1975. He has been a practicing professional architect in Lahore for the past forty-three years.

Abdur Rahman Hye, is considered the father of Institutional Architecture in Pakistan. In the 1950s, Hye became the Chief Town planner of East Pakistan.
In 1958 he moved to West Pakistan, and joined the Government to become the first Chief Architect of the Government of West Pakistan.
Thereafter, he was asked to become the Chief Architect of the Government of Punjab, the largest of the four provinces.
