DENR-NCR Sumuporta sa Mangrove Growing Activity sa BASECO

Bilang bahagi ng patuloy na pangangalaga sa mga mangrove ecosystem sa Kalakhang Maynila, aktibong nakiisa ang DENR National Capital Region sa pagdiriwang ng for Sustainable Development 2026 sa pamamagitan ng pagbibigay ng technical assistance sa isang Mangrove Growing Activity na isinagawa sa coastal area ng BASECO Aplaya sa Manila.

Ang aktibidad ay naisakatuparan sa pakikipagtulungan ng Philippine Society of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineers – Young Engineers Section (PSABE-YES) at ng Coastal Resources and Foreshore Management Section (CRFMS) ng Conservation and Development Division, DENR-NCR.

Sa naturang aktibidad, nagbigay ang mga kinatawan ng CRFMS ng mga teknikal na gabay hinggil sa tamang pamamaraan ng pagtatanim ng bakawan, wastong pag-aalaga ng mga punla, at maayos na paghahanda ng coastal site upang matiyak ang matagumpay na rehabilitasyon ng baybaying-dagat. Sa pamamagitan ng gabay na ito, naging mas sistematiko at epektibo ang pagtatanim ng animnapung (60) punla ng Rhizophora mucronata, isang uri ng mangrove na may mahalagang papel sa coastal ecosystem bilang tirahan at pinagkukunan ng pagkain ng iba’t ibang uri ng isda, ibon, at iba pang wildlife.

Bukod sa aktwal na pagtatanim, nagsagawa rin ang CRFMS ng isang maikling orientation at talakayan tungkol sa kahalagahan ng mga bakawan. Binigyang-diin sa diskusyon ang mahalagang papel ng mangroves sa pagprotekta sa mga komunidad laban sa storm surge, pagguho ng lupa, at iba pang epekto ng matitinding kalamidad, gayundin ang kanilang kontribusyon sa pagpapanatili ng biodiversity at yamang-dagat.

Ang ganitong kolaborasyon ay mahalaga upang matiyak ang patuloy na pagpapanumbalik at proteksyon ng mga mangrove ecosystem, na nagsisilbing mahalagang panangga ng mga komunidad at tahanan ng maraming uri ng yamang-dagat.

PSABE Rizal Chapter Joins Regional Tree Planting Activity in Laguna

The Philippine Society of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineers (PSABE) Rizal Chapter joined the tree planting activity organized by the Laguna State Polytechnic University (LSPU) – Siniloan Campus in collaboration with PSABE Region IV-A Chapter on March 14, 2026, at Brgy. Numero, Mabitac, Laguna.

PSABE Rizal officers, together with student volunteers from the PSABE Pre-Professional Group of the University of Rizal System (URS) Chapter, participated in the activity which included a more than three-kilometer hike to the planting site. Along the trail and at the summit, participants witnessed the scenic landscapes of Laguna and Rizal provinces.

At the summit area, participants planted a mix of agroforestry and fruit-bearing tree seedlings in support of environmental restoration and sustainable land management.

The activity also gathered students from the LSPU College of Engineering, delegates from the PSABE Cavite Chapter, and Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering students from Cavite State University.

The initiative forms part of the celebration of National Engineering Month, observed every March. # #

Please be informed that the BSAE/BSABE Homecoming scheduled on January 10, 2026 at Dumagat Hall, URS Tanay, Rizal has been postponed due to a minimal number of registrants and the need to finalize venue arrangements.

A new schedule will be announced soon. Thank you for your understanding and continued support.
