12TH ROTARY CLUB OF PASIG WEEKLY MEETING 10.08.2027

Earlier today, Rotary Club of Pasig was honored to welcome Prof. Giovanni "Ganni" Tapang for an an insightful talk on "Pax Silica : Industrialization for Whom".

In his opening remark Dean Ganni stated "As the world shifts from Pax Romana to Pax Silica, power is no longer defined only by armies and borders but by AI, semiconductors, critical minerals, energy and data."

The Philippines stands at a crossroads. Will we remain a supplier of land, labor, and raw materials, or will we build the industries, technologies, and skills that create lasting prosperity?

The question is not whether development will happen. The question is: Who will ultimately benefit from it?"

Rotary Club of Pasig supports The Medical City, Institute of Women’s Health, Community Program.

Today, the Ilugin Community Medical Mission served 252 women (87 OB and 165 Gyne patients) for 6.5 hours of simultaneous didactics, breast and cervical cancer screening, anemia and osteoporosis screening, obstetrical and gynecological ultrasound. There were 3 patients who underwent thermal coagulation, 1 IUD removal, 100 patients for anemia screening, and 218 patients for bone scan.

For the past 11 years, the partnership between RC Pasig and Kalusugan ng Kababaihang Pangkabayanan (KnKPInc) headed by Dra. Connie Alfiler, made this program achieve its goal to serve the community in Pinagbuhatan, Pasig. A special thanks to the sponsors who made this activity possible, NPK, Allied Medical Supplies (c/o Dr. Richelle Pascua), Unilab, BBraun, DKT, Distriphi Philippines, Multicare, Tau Gamma Phi and Tau Gamma Sigma Matanza Pinagbuhatan.

Finally, our deepest gratitude to our dear IWH staff, OBGYN consultants and sonologists, its fellows and residents, ASMPH interns and clerks, Ilugin Clinic health workers and everyone who in one way or another contributed their precious time (on a Sunday) and selfless efforts to make a difference in the lives of the 252 patients who we served happily today.
