Earthquakes can set off chains of hazards that multiply destruction long after the first tremor:
🌊 Tsunamis
🏔️ Landslides
☣️ Toxic releases and chemical spills
🏗️ Infrastructure collapse
🔥 Fires
🕳️ Sinkholes and ground subsidence

Reducing earthquake impacts starts with understanding the full risk picture. Knowing what can follow an earthquake means we can plan, build, and warn more effectively.

On the International Day in Memory of the Victims of Earthquakes, 29 April, we can honour those lost by taking action to protect those who remain. 🕯️

Remember. Protect. Build disaster resilience.
