We will protect the rights of Deaf students, employees, and clients. Deaf people have the same human rights, dignity, and right to respect as everyone else.

Bullying and discrimination against Deaf people can include:
-Mocking a Deaf person's signing or FSL
-Making fun of a Deaf person's speech or voice
-Calling a Deaf person insulting or offensive names because they are Deaf
-Excluding a Deaf person from activities or opportunities
-Posting humiliating videos, photos, or comments online
-Deliberately preventing communication, accessibility, or participation

We will continue sharing information and advocacy to raise awareness and encourage support for Deaf people. 💚

🤟Filipino Sign Language Classes are back!

Our new FSL classes for 2026 have officially started! 🎉

This year, we’re welcoming new Deaf learners who want to learn the basics of Filipino Sign Language, while also giving our previous learners a chance to review and practice their skills.

If you’re Deaf and from Lanao del Sur, we’d love for you to join us! Come learn FSL, meet fellow Deaf friends, and be part of a community where we can learn, grow, and support one another.

📝Note:Our FSL classes are community-based and volunteer-led. They are intended to provide Deaf individuals with an opportunity to learn basic FSL, develop everyday communication skills, and connect with others in the Deaf community. These classes are not a formal accredited training or certification program.

This beginner class is designed for individuals (can Talk & Hear) who want to learn FSL, communicate better with Deaf family members, friends, colleagues, and become more connected with the Deaf community.

📅 Class Schedule:
August 4–27, 2026
Every Wednesday & Thursday | 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM
Total of 8 sessions

💵 Course Fee: ₱1,000

👥 Limited Slots: Only 10–15 participants
Small class sizes allow for better interaction, practice, and personalized learning.

📚 What’s Included:
✅ DEAFED FSL Workbook Level 1 (learning guide)
✅ Handouts
✅ Certificate of Completion

💡This Class is For:
• Family members and friends of Deaf individuals
• Teachers, educators, and community workers
• Professionals who interact with Deaf people
• Anyone who wants to learn FSL and support Deaf inclusion

📖 Learning Material:
The DEAFED FSL Workbook Level 1 will be used as the main guide throughout the course to provide a structured and effective learning experience.

Note:
Classes will be facilitated by volunteer teachers from LDMC who are not SPED professionals but dedicated to promoting communication and inclusion between Deaf and hearing communities.

SIGN LANGUAGE INTERPRETER FOR MSU-IIT COMMENCEMENT

Live sign language interpretation accompanied the Facebook livestream of Mindanao State University-Iligan Institute of Technology (MSU-IIT) 56th Commencement Ceremony on July 29, 2026.

The interpretation was provided by Charina Haynes, a deaf academy educator-advocate and co-founder of School for the Deaf in Iligan Foundation, Inc. (SDI).

This initiative marks a significant step toward making MSU-IIT events more accessible and inclusive, allowing families from the deaf community to appreciate this celebration-worthy academic milestone.

Welcome New Members! Join Our Deaf Community 🤟

Every Deaf child deserves the opportunity to learn, communicate, and express themselves just like everyone else. As parents and guardians, our children are an amanah (trust) from Allah, and we are encouraged to do our best in providing them with opportunities to learn and grow according to our ability.

LDMC is here to support you and your child in this journey. You only need to show up, encourage them, and be part of their learning experience. Together, we can help them build confidence, communication skills, and connections
