Thousands Join Peace Rally in Binidayan, Call for Full Implementation of Bangsamoro Peace Agreement

Thousands of people from various sectors of society, community leaders, organizations, and concerned citizens gathered at Lampsun, Brgy. Madaya, Binidayan, Lanao del Sur for the 𝗣𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲’𝘀 𝗣𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝗥𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆, held under the call to “𝗠𝗼𝘃𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗣𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗲, 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗕𝗔𝗥𝗠𝗠 𝗡𝗼𝘄.”
Organized by the coalition Recover BARMM Now!, the gathering formed part of a simultaneous regional mobilization advocating for faithfulness to the Bangsamoro peace process and the full implementation of the Comprehensive Agreement on the Bangsamoro (CAB). The activity reflected growing concerns over recent developments affecting the peace process and the future of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).
The program commenced with the recitation of the Holy Qur’an by Esmail S. Balindong, followed by the welcome message of Hon. Suharto Dimaporo of LGU-Binidayan and the opening remarks of Sheikh Alinasser Moner, who emphasized the importance of collective action in promoting peace and advancing the recovery of BARMM. A Moral Enrichment Orientation was also conducted by Aleem Rasad Bacaraman.
The rally brought together representatives from civil society organizations, youth groups, traditional leaders, religious sectors, former Moro combatants, and peace advocates, including members of the Moro Consensus Group, Consortium of Bangsamoro Civil Society (CBCS), Ompongan Youth Organization, RaNOW Movement, and other peace advocacy networks.
Among those who attended and delivered messages during the gathering were Mauyag “Jun” Papandayan Jr., Sultan Dr. Marjanie Macasalong, Johary D. Ayo of CBCS, Ustad Abdulhamid A. Saronay, Prof. Tirmizy Abdullah, Sultan, Moro Consensus Group, Mu-Ahz Omar of the Ompongan Youth Organization, MP Abdullah “Commander Bravo” Macapaar, Dr. Bashary A. Latiph, Hja. Farhana M. Olama, Aleem Khaled Hadji Nour, and other leaders and advocates of peace in the Bangsamoro.
Speakers emphasized the importance of preserving the gains of the peace process and ensuring the full implementation of the Comprehensive Agreement on the Bangsamoro. They also called on relevant authorities to uphold their commitments under the peace agreement and safeguard the aspirations of the Bangsamoro people.
A significant portion of the participants’ concerns centered on what they described as excessive national government intervention in Bangsamoro affairs. Numerous placards carried messages such as “BBM, tanggalin si Lagdameo,” “Lagdameo, anti-Bangsamoro,” “Lagdameo, hands off the BARMM,” and “BBM, appoint GPH Peace Panel Chair now.”
Other signs called for greater public awareness and renewed commitment to the peace process, bearing messages including “Gising, Bangsamoro,” “Complete the Promise of Peace,” “MILF Led by Leadership and Membership,” and “Stop Selective Investigation in BARMM.”
A key highlight of the program was the reading and signing of a manifesto led by Musa Sultan, symbolizing a collective commitment and support for peace, stability, justice, and the continued recovery of the Bangsamoro region.
Through this gathering, participants once again expressed their support for initiatives aimed at sustaining peace, protecting the gains of the Bangsamoro peace process, and promoting development in the region, while reinforcing the call for collective action toward a stronger, more peaceful, and progressive BARMM.
