This Earth Day, Metro Manila’s air told its own story.

On April 10, a fire broke out at the Navotas Sanitary Landfill. In the days that followed, our network of air quality sensors across the NCR captured the story in real time: PM2.5 levels surged, and communities downwind carried the invisible burden of smoke and toxic emissions.

Every breath counts — not just as a tagline, but as a lived reality for millions of Metro Manila residents who had no warning, no AQI alert, and no clear way to protect themselves.

This Earth Day, we recommit to changing that.
It’s time for air quality information to earn its place — not as a crisis metric, but as everyday public information. Reported hourly. Accessible to all.

Inhale, exhale. 🫁

The air we breathe directly affects how we feel, move, and live each day. While we can’t always control the air around us, there are small steps we can take to protect our respiratory health.

Thanks to Breathe Metro Manila’s air quality levels, high pollution periods can be monitored for us to know when it’s safe to go out.

Check out our other respiratory tips below! because protecting your lungs starts with understanding your air.

🌫️ 24 hours of air quality across Metro Manila.
Watch the pollution story unfold — from the heavily impacted north (Valenzuela, Caloocan, Quezon City) to the relatively cleaner south (Taguig, Parañaque, Las Piñas).
The color tells the story:
🔴 Red = Unhealthy
🟠 Orange = Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups
🟡 Yellow = Moderate
🟢 Green = Good
This is what breathing in Metro Manila looked like in the past 24 hours.
