Coral reefs 🪸 are critical ecosystems for undersea life 🌊🐟, they protect coastal areas by lessening the power of waves hitting the coast, and they provide a vital source of income for millions of people.

According to the 2016 Low Carbon Monitor Report, 98 percent ‼️ of Southeast Asian coral reefs would perish by 2050, effectively extinction by the end of the century if present global warming trends continue.

If coral reefs ceased to exist fish and other marine animals would lose vital food, shelter, and spawning places, and biodiversity 🏞 would suffer significantly as a result. Marine food webs would be disrupted, and many commercially important species would become extinct. ⚠️☠️

Time check! 🕰👀 It is the start of another week, so let us begin our day by gaining awareness about our climate.✨️

Green thumb-maraws surveyed 50 respondents and distributed informational posters to them. All of the participants know that climate change is an ongoing problem in the country, and are concerned about it's impact, especially to us. However, despite being aware that it is primarily caused by human activities, 60% of the respondents are not able to create their own personal actions to reduce their carbon footprint due to lack of knowledge on how to do so. On another note, majority are willing to change their lifestyle, while there are still 24% who are unsure if they will be able to switch from their daily habits. Additionally, some shared that they would like to learn more and be guided, so that they could participate on mitigating the effects of climate change.

So if you are one of the people who would like to know more, then here is a soft copy of our poster and you may share it with your friends so you could also help in bringing attention to global climate change.
