2026 TCY Mangrove Planting

On May 24, 2026, our first batch of volunteers visited the Baseco Community and planted 100 mangrove seedlings. We also conducted a coastal cleanup and collected about 230 kilograms of trash. During the activity, Tzu Chi Youth volunteers and senior members shared information about Tzu Chi’s missions and environmental protection. School supplies such as pencils, notebooks, and sharpeners were given to local children.

The activity was challenging but meaningful. While planting mangroves and cleaning the beach, we saw how small actions can help protect the environment and inspire others to do the same. Many local children joined us and helped collect trash, showing great energy and enthusiasm.

More importantly, we had the chance to interact with the community and learn from the people living there. Despite having simple lives, they showed happiness, kindness, and strong family relationships. This experience taught us that true happiness comes not from material things, but from gratitude, companionship, and helping others. It was a memorable day filled with learning, service, and meaningful connections.

🥬🇵🇭 Veg Voyage Season 4: Philippines Edition

Can Filipino favorites be made plant-based and still taste just as delicious? 🌱

On May 23, 2026, Veg Voyage reached the Philippines, where participants learned how to prepare plant-based versions of beloved Filipino classics including pancit canton, tofu sisig, and chicken inasal.

From chopping ingredients and cooking together to tasting the finished dishes, participants experienced firsthand how familiar Filipino flavors can be recreated in ways that are good for our health, kinder to the environment, and compassionate toward all living beings.

Many were surprised by how flavorful and satisfying the dishes turned out to be. More importantly, they discovered that plant-based cooking can be simple, practical, and enjoyable enough to try at home.

Sometimes, creating positive change doesn't start with grand actions. It can begin with something as simple as the food on our plate. 🌱💚

🌏 If Veg Voyage could travel to one more country next, where should it go?

With intensifying climate change leading to hotter temperatures, extreme weather events, and rising sea levels, the Philippines continues to bear the brunt of the climate crisis.

In this year's Pledge-to-Plant, volunteers of Tzu Chi Youth Philippines seek to continue and expand upon initial tree-planting efforts, embodying the holistic and interconnected nature of Tzu Chi’s mission: addressing climate change, protecting vulnerable communities, and fostering a deep sense of responsibility in the next generation. In partnership with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), we aim to plant 200 mangrove propagules, emphasize the importance of environmental care and conservation, and drive meaningful change.

One station at a time, we’re turning “waste” into a resource. 🌎✨

In Co-Creating a Green Future, participants learned that getting our hands dirty can lead to mindful zero-waste habits. From turning kitchen scraps into natural cleaners through enzyme-making to practicing composting, it was all about learning how to close the loop at home.

As part of Tzu Chi’s mission of environmental protection, composting was introduced as a simple yet meaningful practice. Using everyday materials like vegetable scraps, sticks, and trash bins, we can turn waste into nutrient-rich soil for our gardens, plants, and flowers—while reducing landfill waste and harmful gases.

Start at home! Everyone can do composting, all the materials needed are already part of our daily lives.
