PHINMA University of Iloilo ROTC Unit Conducts Closing Ceremony and Turnover of Command
On April 30, 2026 from 0600H - 1100H at Quad A, PHINMA University of Iloilo, Rizal street, Iloilo City, Iloilo.

By 0600H cadets and cadet officers assembled at Quad A and proceeded to their designated areas.
The ceremony officially commenced with the arrival of the Guest of Honor and Speaker, GM Alfredo L. Tayo, CPA, MDM, CESE. He was received with full military honors as a sign of respect and appreciation for his continued support of the ROTC program. The program then proceeded smoothly in accordance with the planned agenda.

One of the highlights of the event was the recognition of excellence and teamwork. Various companies were awarded for their performance, discipline, and active participation throughout the training period. Outstanding cadets were also honored with medals and certificates for their exemplary skills, leadership, and dedication.

Another significant part of the program was the Turnover of Command.The outgoing Corps Commander formally transferred authority and responsibilities to the newly appointed leader, symbolizing continuity, trust, and the transition of leadership. Outgoing Corps Commander CDT COL Ma. Theresa S. Simps expressed her gratitude, shared her experiences, and affirmed her continued support for the program and future cadet leaders.

The program concluded successfully, marking a meaningful celebration of achievement, leadership, and service. From preparation to completion, the event left all attendees with valuable lessons, lasting memories, and a renewed commitment to serve the school, community, and nation.

The PHINMA University of Iloilo ROTC Unit successfully conducted a Familiarization Firing activity for MS2 cadets and cadettes.

The activity was held from April 23 to April 26, 2026, at the 301st Brigade, 3rd Infantry Division, Philippine Army, located at Camp General Adriano Hernandez in Barangay San Matias, Di**le, Iloilo. It aimed to enhance the cadets’ marksmanship skills, build their confidence, and strengthen their overall military preparedness. The program also provided hands-on experience in the safe handling and proper use of fi****ms, while reinforcing the values of discipline and responsibility.

COL EDRALIN L POBLETE (GSC) PA, Group Commander of the 6th Regional Community Defense Group, personally demonstrated and assisted the cadets in the proper and safe firing procedures. His guidance significantly contributed to the cadets’ understanding, which they applied during the actual firing exercises.

The activity was supervised by the ROTC Commandant, COL MICHAEL N ASUNCION (CE) GSC PA, together with TSg Arnel B. Tabilona (Inf) PA, Admin NCO of the PHINMA UI ROTC Unit; Sgt Nolyn S. Pestaño (Inf) PA, Operational Officer; along with the Range Officer, Tactical NCOs, GMAs, and Advanced Cadet Officers. They closely guided the cadets throughout the activity, ensuring safety protocols and proper procedures were strictly followed.

The successful conduct of the training was made possible through the collective efforts of the Training Staff, Advanced ROTC Cadet Officers, and the Commandant. This activity highlights the unit’s continued commitment to discipline, training excellence, and operational preparedness.

The PHINMA University of Iloilo ROTC UNIT has faced its greatest battle as the Regional Annual Administrative and Tactical Inspection (RAATI) was held on 17 April 2026 at the Parade Ground of L.J. Ledesma Subdivision II, Brgy. Buhang, Jaro, Iloilo City. with COL Antonio V Burton INF (GSC) PA, Chairman of the RAATI Team.

RAATI, or Regional Annual Administrative and Tactical Inspection, is a formal evaluation conducted within organizations like the Reserve Officers' Training Corps under the Philippine Army to assess a unit’s overall performance in both administrative and tactical aspects; it examines areas such as personnel management, training quality, discipline, leadership, logistics, and operational readiness, with the goal of ensuring that units meet military standards, maintain professionalism, and are fully prepared to carry out their duties effectively.

The RAATI was conducted with the end goal of attaining excellence and enhancing the ROTC program to be more responsive and fruitful not only to community service but more importantly to prepare the cadets in national defense.

Members of the RAATI evaluated the ROTC Unit status on administration efficiency, personnel management, training proficiency, facilities, training aids, equipment and support extended by the school administration.

The group then continued by engaging with the cadets. In his message, Antonio V. Burton highlighted the vital role ROTC cadets play in nation-building and national defense. He stressed the importance of patriotism, discipline, dedication, and a strong commitment to serving the country.

The cadets underwent several evaluations to test their tactical proficiency. They displayed with exceptional performance and mastery in the areas of Arrival Honors, Company Drill, Map Reading (Theoretical), Weapons, Basic life support,Ceremonial Parade and Small Unit Tactics.

The RAATI concluded with the announcement of result with PHINMA UI ROTC unit garnering the overall rating of 92.41. The following areas had impressive marks.

Iloilo City — The PHINMA University of Iloilo (PHINMA UI) ROTC Unit successfully conducted its 13th and 14th Regular ROTC Instructions for MS2 Cadets for the 2nd Semester of School Year 2025–2026 on April 11, 2026, from 0600H to 1200H in the morning and 1300H to 1700H in the afternoon. The instruction was held at L.J. Ledesma Subdivision II, Brgy. Buhang, Jaro, Iloilo City.

The instruction commenced at 0600H with a flag-raising ceremony, followed by attendance checking and a briefing on the day’s objectives and standards. Activities resumed in the afternoon at 1300H and proceeded as scheduled.

The MS2 Cadets were organized into Alpha, Bravo, Charlie, Delta, Foxtrot, Golf, and Hotel Companies, along with HHSC (Special Company) and MP Company.

Two major activities were conducted during the training: the Ceremonial Parade and Military Stakes.

The day began with the Ceremonial Parade, where cadets assembled on the parade ground and executed a series of coordinated drills that showcased discipline, unity, and military bearing. Each movement was performed with precision and focus, reflecting rigorous training and strong teamwork. The synchronized maneuvers highlighted the cadets’ esprit de corps and set a commendable tone for the day.
This was followed by the Military Stakes, where cadets participated in various challenging stations designed to test their tactical skills, physical endurance, and problem-solving abilities.

Overall these activities not only measured the cadets’ physical and mental capabilities but also reinforced the importance of teamwork, discipline, and leadership—core values essential for future military officers.

The event was a resounding success, showcasing the cadets’ growth, readiness, and potential to excel in future endeavors. Its successful conduct was made possible through the combined efforts of the Training Staff, Advance ROTC Cadet Officers, and the Commandant, COL MICHAEL N ASUNCION CE (GSC) PA.

Sa paggunita ng Araw ng Kagitingan, nakibahagi ang PHINMA University of Iloilo ROTC Unit sa pagbibigay-pugay sa mga magigiting na bayani na nag-alay ng kanilang buhay noong panahon ng digmaan. Tulad ng kasabihan, “Ang kalayaan ay hindi kailanman libre,” na nagpapaalala sa atin na ang kapayapaan at kalayaang tinatamasa natin ngayon ay bunga ng malaking sakripisyo at tapang.

Kasama ang mga kalahok mula sa iba’t ibang organisasyon, nagmartsa ang yunit nang may dangal, pagmamalaki, at matatag na pagkamakabayan upang gunitain ang Araw ng Kagitingan. Tampok sa seremonya ang isang mataimtim na programa, kabilang ang pag-aalay ng bulaklak at isang sandali ng katahimikan bilang pag-alala sa katapangan at sakripisyo ng mga bayaning tagapagtanggol ng Bataan noong Ikalawang Digmaang Pandaigdig. Idinaos ang makabuluhang gawain noong Abril 9, 2026, sa University of the Philippines (UP) Visayas sa Lungsod ng Iloilo.

Ang bayani ay isang taong nag-alay ng kanyang buhay para sa isang layuning higit pa sa sarili. Ang kanilang sakripisyo ang naging pundasyon ng ating kalayaan sa kasalukuyan. Sa pagbibigay-pugay sa kanila, tinitiyak nating mananatiling buhay ang kanilang pamana, na nagsisilbing inspirasyon upang mahalin at paglingkuran natin ang ating bayan nang may parehong tapang at debosyon.

Iloilo City — The PHINMA University of Iloilo (PHINMA UI) ROTC Unit successfully conducted its 11th and 12th Regular ROTC Instructions for MS2 Cadets for the 2nd Semester of School Year 2025–2026 on March 28, 2026, from 0600H to 1200H in the morning and 1300H to 1700H in the afternoon. The instruction was held at L.J. Ledesma Subdivision II, Brgy. Buhang, Jaro, Iloilo City.

The instruction began at 0600H with a Flag Raising Ceremony in observance of ROTC Month, followed by attendance checking and a briefing on the day’s objectives and standards. In the afternoon session, activities resumed at 1300H and proceeded according to the planned schedule.

The MS2 Cadets were organized into Alpha, Bravo, Charlie, Delta, Foxtrot, Golf, and Hotel Companies, together with HHSC (Special Company) and MP Company.

Four (4) major activities were undertaken during the training, namely: Ceremonial Parade, Written Examination , Company Drill and Battle Drill

The first activity is the Ceremonial Parade, where the cadets assembled and executed a series of coordinated drills that showcased discipline, unity, and proper military bearing. Each movement required precision and focus, reflecting the training and cooperation among members. After completing the parade, the cadets transitioned to the Written Examination, where they were assessed on their understanding of previously discussed lessons. This part of the training challenged their ability to think critically and recall important concepts under time pressure.

Following the examination, the Company Drill was conducted, emphasizing collective performance and leadership within the ranks. Cadets carried out commands in synchronization, demonstrating responsiveness and strong communication between leaders and members. The activity further enhanced their discipline and reinforced the importance of teamwork in achieving a unified ex*****on of movements.The final activity was the Battle Drills, which introduced practical scenarios requiring immediate action and sound judgment. Cadets applied their skills in simulated situations that tested their alertness, coordination, and decision-making abilities.

Overall, the training effectively integrated physical discipline, mental assessment, and tactical application, contributing to the development of well-rounded and prepared cadets. The session concluded with a final formation, attendance check, and the orderly dismissal of cadets.
