VOLUNTEER LIMELIGHT
(MS PART 2)
Every year, we stop activities in November and resume in February. However, we continue with Training in December and January for the Leadership. This is to equip them to lead their teams well and most importantly, strategically.
Marjorie shares what she learnt. She is also in the QMS SHE Policy team who are tasked to write the Safety, Health and Environment Policies for the organisation.
"Since joining I AM Change Inc. in October 2025, I cannot fully express how thankful and grateful I have been for such an opportunity given to me.
During my interview with I AM Change, I was told that I was going to work on voluntary basis. A service for a service. My services will not be paid in monetary.
I didn't fully understand or grasp the full concept of volunteering, I just wanted to do something, and work. I gladly accepted the offer as a volunteer.
My journey began with IAC, after a month I realized this is no joke. Volunteering is for the strongest willed people, who are willing to go the distance to help others for FREE. People who are selfless, who are not lazy, people who are willing to take risks to change and bring change.
It's 6 months now since I joined, but the growth I have seen and experienced since joining I AM Change Inc. is overwhelming compared to my 9 years of being a full time employee. I have learned skills that I never thought I would learn just from volunteering
and these skills and knowledge that I've learnt and I'm still learning from I AM Change has humbled me and taught me to that learning and developing yourself doesn't only come through full time employment but also through
voluntary work. Change will only happen when you change yourself first, your mindset, your
attitude, the way you see other people and how you value them.
I AM Change has taught me to be creative, to use whatever resources and skills I have to be sustainable and I AM Change has taught me to start small. Small steps lead to big paths and I am thankful for being part of an organization
that provides service for a service."
