CONGRATULATORY MESSAGE
From One Esa’ala One Voice Inc.

On behalf of the people of Esa’ala and the wider Milne Bay community, One Esa’ala One Voice Inc. warmly congratulates Mr. Mathew Magioudi, three-time West Fergusson LLG President, on his election as Deputy Governor of Milne Bay Province.

Your victory, secured through a close and decisive vote of the Provincial Assembly, is a testament to the trust and confidence placed in your leadership. As you step into this new role alongside Governor Gordon Henry Wesley, we commend your commitment to addressing pressing challenges—investment opportunities, internal revenue generation, housing for public servants, squatter settlements, youth engagement, and law and order.

We recognize your proven dedication as former Chairman for Law and Order and celebrate your readiness to serve in these difficult economic times. Your leadership will be vital in guiding Milne Bay toward unity, progress, and prosperity.

One Esa’ala One Voice Inc. stands in solidarity with you and pledges its support in fostering inclusive development for all communities across our beloved province.

Congratulations once again, Deputy Governor Magioudi. May your tenure be marked by wisdom, courage, and service to the people.

OFFICIAL TRIBUTE FROM ONE ESA’ALA ONE VOICE INC.
Honouring the Life and Legacy of the Late Thomas Inman
On behalf of One Esa’ala One Voice Inc., we extend our deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of the late Thomas Inman, a man whose presence, resilience, and service became part of the foundation of Esa’ala Station.
For many decades, Mr. Inman was one of the most established and enduring businessmen in Esa’ala. Long before his later years, when his guest house service became listed among accommodation options in Alotau and Esa’ala, he was already known to our people as a steadfast store owner who supported the community through good times and hard times.
Those of us who grew up in the late 1980s and early 1990s remember his stores as essential to daily life. Families relied on him for basic goods. Travellers found direction and support. His business stood firm even when he faced repeated challenges, including criminal break & enter incidents that would have discouraged many. Yet he rebuilt, restocked, and continued serving without withdrawing from the community he had committed himself to.
His resilience was not loud or boastful. It was steady, practical, and deeply rooted in responsibility to the people of Esa’ala.
In later years, his establishment, often referred to as Tom Inman B&B, became known beyond Milne Bay Province. But for Esa’ala, his legacy began long before any listing or recognition. It began with decades of service, consistency, and quiet strength.
To us, he was more than a businessman.
He was part of the backbone of Esa’ala Station, a man who stood strong so others could stand too.
As he is laid to rest, we honour his contribution, his endurance, and the many ways he supported our district across generations. His memory will remain with the people he served for so long.
May his family find comfort in knowing that Esa’ala remembers him with gratitude.
May his legacy continue to inspire unity, service, and resilience.
Rest in peace, Thomas Inman.
Your work lives on in the community you helped build.

Today in Port Moresby, thousands joined the Redvember Walk led by NCD Governor Hon. Powes Parkop, carrying the message: “It’s my Responsibility. Let’s all work together to prevent all forms of Violence.”

The walk ended at Sir Hubert Murray Stadium, where the Australian High Commissioner praised the initiative and pledged support to help reduce gender-based violence in Papua New Guinea.

Although One Esa’ala One Voice Inc. could not prepare a physical banner in time, our presence was marked through our representatives, President Wesley Terrence Karake and External Relations & Market Linkage Coordinator, Joelson Anere. Walking side by side with thousands, they carried the spirit of unity and responsibility on behalf of all our members in Esa’ala District, Alotau, Port Moresby, and our offshore citizens.

This moment inspires us to bring similar initiatives home to Esa’ala District, where One Esa’ala One Voice Inc. will begin programs in 2026 to strengthen awareness, unity, and prevention of violence at the community level.

Salamo Airstrip Maintenance Sparks Community Outcry: Esa’ala Voices Call for Action

Salamo Station, Fergusson Island
November 22, 2025

Members of One Esa’ala One Voice Inc. have raised urgent concerns regarding the ongoing manual maintenance of the Salamo Airstrip, a once-operational rural airstrip that has remained closed since 2003. Despite its non-serviceable status, the airstrip continues to be cleared and maintained year-round by citizens of Salamo Station, using only physical labor and without machinery.

Images recently shared by a concerned citizen depict the painstaking efforts of local residents who burn, cut, and clear vegetation to keep the airstrip accessible. These efforts are not symbolic; they represent a community’s enduring hope for reconnection and development. Yet, the citizens’ commitment has not been met with consistent support. Payments for this labor, reportedly under the responsibility of the Milne Bay Provincial Transport Authority, are frequently delayed.

As a united voice from Esa’ala District, One Esa’ala One Voice Inc. is calling for this concern to be formally acknowledged by both provincial and national authorities. The question being asked is simple: If the Transport Authority is overseeing this airstrip, why are the citizens who maintain it left waiting for compensation?

Beyond the issue of payment, the community is also seeking clarity from the Rural Airstrips Authority. Is there a plan to redevelop the Salamo Airstrip? And what of Sehulea Airstrip, another critical site in the district that remains dormant? Both airstrips once served as vital lifelines, connecting remote villages to urban centers, enabling the transport of fresh produce, and providing access to emergency services.

The people of Esa’ala are not asking for favors. They are asking for fairness, recognition, and the restoration of essential infrastructure. The reopening of Salamo and Sehulea airstrips would not only honor the tireless work of local citizens but also unlock economic and social opportunities for the entire district.

Through this public statement, One Esa’ala One Voice Inc. urges the Milne Bay Provincial Government, the Rural Airstrips Authority, and relevant national departments to respond. The voices of Salamo are the voices of Esa’ala, and they deserve to be heard.

United We Move.
