14 WTC members visited Mangaturuturu Hut yesterday to carry in materials for hut maintenance, cleaning duties and wood stacking. A stunning day.

Tokomaru East DOC Reserve via Wairangi Station.

Leaders: John M and Graham B

Last Wednesday 16 WTC members travelled to Wairangi Station and then walked on a farm track up to Tokomaru East Reserve.
They followed a paper road (wet in places) and then looped back through the bush before returning to Wairangi Station.
Once they returned they were given a tour through the now finished stunning bow hunting/MTB lodge.

Hipango Park Walk : 23/09/2026.

On Wednesday 14 WTC members did a walk that involved paddocks, a pine forest, a steep ascent behind Hipango Park and steep descent through a pine forest till we reached the access road that took us back to the Vans.

Yesterday 5 WTC members walked from Landguard Bluff to the south mole and then back along the beach.
The tide was low and it was a chance to catch up on progress on the port and mole works.
Distance travelled 10.3 km.

Yesterday 16 WTC members walked to the new swing bridge that crosses the Whangaehu River at the Whitiau Scientific Reserve.
After having morning tea we headed north up the beach for 4.5kms, then went inland back through the forest and back to the vans.
Total distance travelled 19.5kms.

Fun Facts: The bridge has taken 10 years to come to fruition, is the longest swing bridge on the TA and the second longest in NZ after the new Ho**er Valley bridge.

A couple of photos from Wednesday's tramp to Maketawa Hut up on Mt Taranaki.
Weather was great and their was a bit of snow around.

Curtis Falls : Te Papa-Kura-o-Taranaki

Yesterday 4 WTC members ventured to Mt Taranaki National Park to walk the Curtis Falls and Patea loop tracks.
The weather was wet and windy but they managed to get to the Falls.
Due to the weather conditions it was decided not to do the Patea Loop Track.
