We had such a great time out and about today supporting the Takapau Health Centre and meeting so many wonderful people. ❤️

One of the highlights was running into people who have previously adopted from Ruahine — and sometimes getting to see their beautiful furbabies again too! 🥰 There’s nothing quite like seeing our former rescue animals happy and loved in their forever homes.

Honey, Arlo and Ollie also had some lovely meet and greets and were absolute little champions. They even handled the big truck honk-off at midday like brave little troopers! 🚛📣🐶
We met so many lovely people who were interested in what we do and keen to support our rescue work, and we really appreciate everyone who stopped by for a chat, a pat, or just to say hello.

The rain unfortunately put a dampener on the last couple of hours, but that didn’t stop us having a great day! 🌧️❤️

Manners & Training: Crate trained, sits politely to wait for her dinner, and lets you trim her nails without a fuss.

Out & About Champion: Recently aced a socialisation tour visiting vet clinics, strolling through town, and exploring down by the river—handled it all with calm, controlled obedience!

Things to know:
Honey is inquisitive about cats. Her foster family has been teaching her that cats are meant for "polite sniffing only," so her new family will need to keep up with that consistent guidance. She’s also a bit of a dramatic sweetheart—she can be a classic big sook when told "no" and will playfully let you know she isn’t impressed!

Honey would thrive with a family wanting a true companion or anyone looking for a devoted shadow to share everyday life with.

The update you’ve all been waiting for - Caesar & his new Dad! 🐾❤️

Remember our handsome boy Caesar? After spending a long time in foster care with us at Ruahine Animal Rescue, he found his forever family a few weeks ago—and we just had to share this heartwarming pupdate!

As you can clearly see, these two are completely and utterly smitten with each other. 😍 That giant face-wash kiss says everything you need to know about how well he’s settled in.

Caesar has truly made himself at home, and seeing that big grin on both of them is the ultimate reward for everyone who championed, cared for, and cheered on this sweet boy during his long foster journey.

Thank you so much to his adoptee parents for giving Caesar the absolute best life and for keeping us updated. This right here is why we do what we do! 🐶✨

The wait is over! Ginge is adopted! 🐾 As the season changes, so does Ginge's address—he's found his forever home. We can't thank you enough for all the shares and supportive words that helped connect this great dog with his new family. Here’s to a vibrant spring for Ginge and his pack! 🌱🐶🎉

Spring is all about new beginnings, and no one deserves a second chance to blossom quite like our sweet boy Arlo! 🐾🌱
7 month old Arlo arrived at Ruahine Animal Rescue underweight, neglected, and understandably unsure of the world around him. He had never experienced the basics of being a cherished pup—he didn’t even know what "sit" meant.

Fast forward to today, and Arlo’s resilient spirit is shining through! He’s already:

*Mastered the "sit" command like a champ ⭐

**Learning to walk nicely on the lead 🦮

***Showing so much love to every human he meets 💕

****Getting along wonderfully with other dogs 🐶

Because life kept him from learning puppy etiquette early on, Arlo is still working on his manners and he hasn't been tested with cats.

Meet Ginge. He is our fresh breath of Spring here at Ruahine Animal Rescue.
He is a gorgeous almost 12 month old Labrador/German Shorthaired Pointer cross and his warm rich coat perfectly matches his name and his sunny personality.

Bred with natural instincts as a retriever, Ginge is full of youthful vigour and eager to blossom into the ultimate companion.
Though he has plenty of active energy to burn, he already has fantastic foundations in place:

1. He is well mannered and walks beautifully on the lead and has a reliable recall. This boy knows his basic commands.
2. He is social and loving and is house trained. Great with other dogs and adores meeting people. However he has not yet been tested with cats.
3. Ginge loves the great outdoors and would thrive as a hunting buddy or a best pal for an energetic household.

🌸 Meet Sweet Ollie! 🌸

Ollie is an approximately 6-month-old mixed breed boy looking for his very own special forever home. This gorgeous young pup is ready to blossom with the right patient, loving guidance.

Ollie is a gentle, affectionate boy who loves the people he knows well and gets along great with other dogs. He's slowly gaining confidence every day!

As a young pup who missed out on some early basics, Ollie is still working on his house training and manners (he tends to get excited and jump up). He didn't know much when he first arrived, but he is eager to learn.

Ollie will thrive with a dedicated, special someone who can give him lots of love, patience, and positive reinforcement to help him catch up on what he's missed.

Ollie is such an amazing wee boy and is going to make an incredible companion for the right family.
