Have you got a love for active dogs, a secure yard, and a passion for training? Then our gorgeous new girl Mischa might just be your perfect match!

This stunning 6-year-old Smooth Collie cross is the definition of a "people dog". Mischa absolutely thrives on human interaction, has a massive heart, and wants nothing more than to please her tribe. She’s already made great friends with our big boy Lobo at the shelter, proving she’s got a wonderful social side with the right canine buddies!

Because she's incredibly smart and very, very fast, Mischa is looking for an experienced owner who can give her the guidance she needs. She’s a strong girl on the lead and her recall is currently a work in progress, but because she is so highly trainable and eager to learn, she is going to absolutely thrive with someone dedicated to retraining her.

At the moment Mischa might have a preference for a home without any feline or feathered friends.

Our sweet, sunny dynamo has officially graduated from rescue life! ☀️ From the moment she arrived, this gorgeous "good girl" stole our hearts with her incredibly friendly nature, her smarts, and her absolute love for everyone she meets.

Girl is looking forward to heading off to her new home with a wonderful family who absolutely adore her. And the best news of all for Girl? Now that she’s been spayed, it won't be long before her new parents can finally take that cone off for good! 🥳

A little while ago, Caesar celebrated his 7th birthday with his wonderful foster family. He felt like an absolute king ripping into his presents (he’s a certified expert gift-unwrapper!). But as much as he loved his special day, there is still one gift he’s missing: a forever home.

Caesar is a genuinely special soul who treats every single day like a new adventure. Whether he’s trotting down a quiet country lane or curled up by the fire keeping you company, he just wants to be your right-hand man.

We are absolutely thrilled to celebrate two incredible women who make the world a brighter, safer place for our rescue animals. Please join us in giving a massive shout-out to our Volunteers of the Month! 🎉🐾

✨ Heather: A Shining Light
Heather is truly one of Ruahine Animal Rescue’s shining lights. Always looking ahead, she is constantly thinking about the rescue’s future and keeping animal welfare at the very heart of everything we do. From opening her home as a dedicated fosterer to serving on our committee and always being the first to show up at our community events, Heather’s leadership and passion are invaluable.

💛 Grace: Always Ready to Muck In
Grace has been a cornerstone of our team since 2024. As a dedicated fosterer, she provides a safe, cosy haven for animals when they need it most. Grace is the ultimate team player—always willing to muck in, get her hands dirty, and do absolutely anything needed to help the rescue run smoothly. Her reliability and big heart mean the world to us.

We are incredibly lucky to have both of these amazing ladies in our rescue family. Thank you, Heather and Grace, for your endless dedication, hard work, and love for the animals! 🐶🐱

A Paws-itive Day at Petstock Hastings! 🐾
​Last Saturday was truly special for the Ruahine Animal Rescue team. We had the pleasure of taking some of our rescue dogs to Petstock Hastings, and it was wonderful to see them meeting so many new friends!
​We want to extend a massive thank you to the team at Petstock for hosting us. We are also incredibly grateful for the generous pet food donation—it will make a real difference for our rescues while they wait for their forever homes.
