UHub A central Community Hub for young people and their whānau based in Upper Hutt. We have called it UHub UHub takes a whole community approach to education.

UHub is a hub in Upper Hutt for every child from birth through to 12 years of age and their whānau. Our community knows that when we invest early in young people, empowering them and their whānau, it will clear the path to a positive future: para he huarahi ki te pora. UHub empowers whānau, early childhood, schools, our marae and iwi, agencies and business to think and act and work in different wa

ys. In ways that are more collaborative and that uses scarce resources more efficiently and equitably. A whole community learning and working together to give all children a great start. When young people do well, the whole community does well.

🌱 Tamariki grow confidence through encouragement, belonging, and feeling seen for who they are.

Confidence doesn’t always look loud.

Sometimes it looks like:
💛 trying again
💛 asking for help
💛 sharing an idea
💛 walking into school when it felt hard
💛 recovering after a difficult moment

Noticing strengths such as kindness, creativity, humour, determination, curiosity, empathy, helps tamariki begin to recognise those strengths in themselves.

We know whānau and educators do this every day in ways that often go unnoticed.

At UHub, we believe every tamariki already carries strengths, potential, and value within them. Sometimes all it takes is noticing, nurturing, and believing in those strengths for them to grow. 🩷

💛 Everyday Moments That Matter

Ever notice your child holds it together all day… then finally lets their big feelings out after being at their place of learning?

For many tamariki, home is the place where emotions finally feel safe to come out. After a full day of learning, socialising, concentrating, and managing expectations, some tamariki have used up a lot of emotional energy.

This can look like:
• irritability
• meltdowns
• tears over small things
• needing extra connection
• wanting quiet and downtime

Sometimes what helps most is not more questions or pressure, but food, rest, routine, and calm connection. 💛

Every child is different, and there’s no perfect way to respond.
Small, steady moments of care and connection matter deeply.

If you’d like support around wellbeing and emotions, UHub is here for a kōrero. Find out where we are next on our website www.uhub.org.nz.
