Well the weather wasn’t that kind to us with the rain arriving just as we finished setting up. So the gazebo’s went up the umbrellas came out and we carried on, eventually the rain stopped.
The Sausages were sizzling, Lulu’s ice cream eaten, as was Kettle Corn, and coffee was consumed, somewhere between all of that, the Charity Auction went ahead bric a brac was sold and money was raised to help our Community.

Once a month we have a dinner meeting with a guest speaker. This month we were fortunate to have Mark Robbins come and speak to us about the book Riding through Life.
A memoir started by his late father Neville Wooderson, that Mark and his sister Joy completed.
A fantastic story about a man who lead a extraordinary life, a journey fuelled by passion and Service, including being a Lion in South Auckland.
From the hard years of the 1930s Depression to becoming a respected Craftsman Plumber...
From building hospitals and schools in Nepal alongside Sir Edmund Hillary.
A passion for motorcycle racing mastering the speed to qualify for the Isle of Man TT events then later sponsoring Dobsy & Chris Swallow.
A very entertaining evening with a great story.

INTERNATIONAL DOG DAY

Today we’re celebrating some very special four-legged helpers.

Lions New Zealand is proud to support and the incredible work they do helping Deaf and severely hearing-impaired New Zealanders live with greater independence, confidence and connection.

A Hearing Dog is so much more than a companion. They can become another set of ears — alerting their person to important everyday sounds and providing reassurance, companionship and support along the way.

On International Dog Day, we celebrate the dogs, the people who train and care for them, and the partnerships that help make this life-changing work possible.

Small paws. Extraordinary service.
