Through the wairua of Matariki, our community Poukawa 3030 has come together in the spirit of kotahitanga. These past two days have reminded us: we are not alone. The journey to heal our waters and protect our whenua is long, but it is shared.

Poukawa 3030 is not just a date — it is a declaration. A future where our mokopuna fish and play freely in clean waters, where kaitiakitanga is second nature, and where the stories of our tīpuna are lived every day in the way we care for the land.

Together, we will plant, restore, protect, and thrive. Let this be our collective legacy — not just for today, but for the next 1000 years.

Thank you to all who joined and all who supported another great celebration in the Poukawa Valley.

Bringing an event together truly takes a village and we couldn't do it without our wonderful volunteers and sponsors.

It's a frosty morning in the valley this morning. While its going to be a bit warmer tomorrow please remember to dress warmly! If you would like to wear gloves while planting please bring your own. Kahuranaki Marae are providing tea and coffee but please bring your own water.

Out with Plant Hawke's Bay Ltd on this beautiful Poukawa day. We are getting the native plant order organised for the riparian planting we will be doing along the bank of the Mangaweka stream during our Matariki 2025 celebrations. This is one of the main inlets to Lake Poukawa on the western side and is fed from up Colin White and Burma Roads. Come and help us plant it on the 20th...
