Could you be part of the team that is

Reefton Land Search and Rescue Squad are looking for new volunteers.

You don't need to be an elite athlete or an outdoor expert. We're looking for people who enjoy being part of a supportive team, are willing to learn, and want to make a real difference in their community.

As a volunteer you'll:
• Build practical outdoor, navigation, communication and emergency response skills.
• Train alongside a welcoming, inclusive team.
• Challenge yourself, grow your confidence, and make lifelong friendships.
• Be there when your community needs you most.

If you've ever thought, "I'd like to do something that matters," this could be it.

Curious? check out our app below to learn more about what we do and how to get involved.

Pete's willingness to mentor others, share his knowledge, and step forward whenever needed has made a lasting impact on our squad and the wider community. Super proud to be part of an organization that has just received global recognition for community engagement.

We’re incredibly proud to share that Land Search and Rescue has received the Community Engagement Award at the 2026 Global Search and Rescue Excellence Awards in London.

This international recognition celebrates the dedication of our volunteers and staff who work tirelessly alongside communities across Aotearoa New Zealand to help keep people safe before a search even begins.

Over the past year alone, our volunteers contributed more than 15,000 hours supporting education, preparedness, youth engagement, and community safety initiatives nationwide.

From helping young people build confidence through programmes like Stars and Clued Up Kids, to supporting vulnerable people and their whānau through and WanderSearch, our volunteers continue to make a difference far beyond operational responses.

This award also recognises the important work of Rapa Taiwhenua Land Search and Rescue in strengthening relationships with Māori communities and building cultural understanding across our organisation.

Trained volunteers bringing people home across Aotearoa.

To every volunteer, supporter, partner, and community member, thank you. This recognition belongs to all of you. 🧡
