Continuing on with our deep dive into walking sticks, here's a look at fixed walking sticks.

If having a walking stick that folds is not a priority, consider fixed walking sticks. These come in a range of shapes and handle styles, and we will start today by looking at T-handle options.

T-handle Fixed Walking Sticks
Pros
◆ Available in a variety of colours and patterns
◆ Adjustable to a wider range of heights than folding sticks. Heights range from 74cm minimum to 100cm maximum, perfect if you need a shorter or taller walking stick.
◆ Increased stability and durability as they have no joints or moving parts.

Cons
◆ Not foldable for storage in bags.

Welcome back to our Spring series!

Today, we are continuing our guide on walking sticks, which come in a wide range of different styles, shapes, and heights.
The first thing to consider may be whether you are looking for a foldable versus fixed option.

Foldable walking sticks

Pros
◆ Highly portable: They fold down into three or four sections, making them easy to pack into a backpack, handbag, or airplane carry-on.
◆ Available in a wide range of colours and patterns
◆ Adjustable heights: Most are available in a standard height range of 82-84cm minimum to 92-95cm maximum. WellAble also stock the Cubro Lifestyle range that has a lower height range of 75cm to 86cm.

Cons
◆ The folding mechanism can be difficult to use for those with lowered hand strength and/or dexterity.
◆ Available only as a T-handle option which may not be the preferred handle type for all.

Welcome to our new WellAble Spring series!

With the changeable weather in Spring, now is a great time for building your confidence for walking indoors and out.

We will start the series with some posts on Walking Sticks. These walking aids can improve balance, reduce joint stress, and helps with mobility.

With Spring on it's way, we have reached our final post for our winter series on keeping warm, dry and active.

🧤IMAK Compression Arthritis Gloves✋🏾

🏃🏾Pedal Exercisers🦿

Stuck inside due to bad weather? Here's a handy piece of equipment to enhance your circulation and to strengthen your legs, arms and hands.

Exercise comfortably, sitting on your regular chair or couch with this easy-to-use exerciser. They can be placed under a table or desk when exercising the legs or on top of a table for arm exercises.

They come equipped with a pedometer to track your distance and an adjustable resistance dial for gentle or stronger workouts.

Continuing on the series on keeping warm, dry and active this winter, here's another super popular product that we stock here at WellAble.

🛏️ Waterproof Bed Pads 😴

Peace of mind:

Keep your bed dry with our range of waterproof bed pads. These pads (also known as Kylies) are super absorbent and can hold up to 2 litres.

Easy change:

The Brolly Sheet range has a soft cotton top which allows them to be placed over bed sheets, so no need to strip all the bedding in the middle of the night.

Easy care:

Avoid the winter laundry woes- these pads are machine washable (cold/warm) and can be tumble dried (low).

Plenty of options:

Today, we’re tackling one of the biggest hurdles of the season: keeping clothes clean and dry when washing and drying laundry feels almost impossible in this damp, freezing weather! 🌧️

🍕Bibs and Bandanas 🍨

Bibs and bandanas can be very helpful to keep clothes clean and dry at mealtimes. The Brolly Sheet range that we stock have soft waterproof backings with a variety of colours and fabrics for the top layers.
Better yet for the winter, they can all be machine washed on a gentle cycle and tumbled dry on a low heat.

Here is another dressing aid to help with make it easier to stay warm, dry and active this winter.

🧥Dressing Stick👖

Bulky winter layers like heavy coats and trousers can make getting dressed a painful chore if you have limited reach, arthritis, or mobility challenges.

A dressing stick makes it easier to get dressed by helping you to push and pull clothing on and off. It helps you manage winter wear without bending, twisting, or straining. Dressing sticks are particularly popular with those who have limited mobility, or the use of only one hand.

Dressing sticks have a large C hook at one end and a specially designed push/pull hook at the other.

🧥 Swing Heavy Jackets with Ease
Don’t struggle to reach behind your back. Put one arm in its sleeve, then use the handy C-hook to grab the collar and pull the rest of the coat around your shoulders.

Today we continue with another super useful dressing aid to help you keep warm, dry and active this winter.

🧥Button Hook and Zipper Pull 👖

This easy to use device makes getting dressed easier by securing buttons and fastening zips. It is ideal for people who have limited mobility or the use of only one hand.

Using the Button Hook
• Insert the wire loop: Push the wire loop through the buttonhole from the outside to the inside.
• Catch the button: Place the wire loop over the button so it surrounds it.
• Pull through: Twist or slide the button through the narrow part of the loop, then pull the tool and the button back through the hole

Using the Zipper Pull
• Hook the zipper: Insert the metal hook on the opposite end through the small hole or ring on the zipper tab.
• Pull to zip: Hold the hook securely and pull the zipper up or down smoothly.
