Today marks the start of "Shocktober". This is the month where we focus on educating people on how to improve outcomes for loved ones, if a cardiac arrest was to occur in the community 💔 using our 3 Steps for life:
1️⃣ Call 111
2️⃣ Start CPR
3️⃣ Use an AED
Community AEDs are a valuable part of this process. Thanks to Stephen and Kip (pictured)👍from UniChem Quinns Gore for being the latest business to house an AED available 24/7 to the public by calling 111.
Would your business like to house a 24/7 AED? Thanks to sponsorship 👏 from Vestas we have an external AED available to place in the community this October, comment below where you would like to see one of these lifesaving AEDs in our community 💛💚

Last week when we had a different type of emergency at the station, this time one requiring a builder 🔨 with lights and sirens. Michael and the team from Carpentry South 2024 Ltd and the team from BW Electrical sprang 🦸 into action to get us out of a jam. Big shout out to both teams, as supporters of our local community and Hato Hone St John Hokonui and Riversdale we appreciate you 💛💚

We had such an awesome day👍on Tuesday, with all the Tamariki from around Eastern Southland at Clued up kids. Our amazing Ops team 💛 of Debbie, Mal, Cat and Alex got to teach CPR skills when we all learnt the DRS ABCD. Then the learning was all put to good use 👩‍🎓while doing practise chest compressions on the training dummies to the rhythm of "Baby Shark" 🦈. Two of our senior cadets Victoria and Elizabeth then used their artistic and technical skills to talk through wound types and give the kids some very life like makeup effects 😍 Thankyou to all the kids for being such great representatives for your schools, definitely a few future paramedics in Gore 💚💛
