Hi everyone, apologies for the short notice reminder, but the Draft Annual Plan submissions close this Friday, April 24.

If you haven't already, I encourage you to take the time to have a look at what is proposed for 2026-2027 and provide your feedback.

> If you own property in the district, or live, work or play here - now's the time to take a look at what's proposed for 2026-2027 and let us know what you think.

> A consultation document is available that summarises what’s proposed for 2026–2027, highlights key consultation topics, and provides an update on progress toward delivering the Long-Term Plan 2024–2034. But remember, submissions can be made on any aspect of the draft Annual Plan.

Key consultation topics include:
> Proposed changes to user fees and charges
> Wānaka–Upper Clutha Community Board priority projects
> Progress toward developing the Long-Term Plan 2027–2037

What about rates?

While the proposed district-wide average rates increase for 2026-2027 is 11.7% (after allowing for 3.5% growth), some properties in some of our smaller communities including Luggate, Hāwea and Cardrona will see a more significant proposed increase, while in Kingston - ours is lower. See the Kingston fact sheet here: https://letstalk.qldc.govt.nz/105856/widgets/483249/documents/325735

There are some FAQ documents published on the Let’s Talk page to help explain what is driving these increases.

Click here to find out more, and make a submission!

Submissions can be made on any part of the draft Annual Plan and close on 24 April 2026.

Your submissions will help Councillors make final decisions on the plan, ahead of it being adopted in June 2026.

The draft Annual Plan 2026-2027 is now open for consultation. We’re now in Year 3 of our 2024-2034 Long-term Plan (LTP), which was adopted in October 2024 after a lot of community input. The LTP sets our direction, budget and work for the next decade. The Draft Annual

📢 Join us for the final stage in or pump track project - a fun community morning planting natives around the track 🌱

📍Sunday 3 May 10-12 (bad weather contingency 10 May)

🌿 We've had lovely natives donated by the Wakatipu Reforestation Trust.

❎There will be no plants to that could shade the track, block sightlines, views for nearby properties, or leave debris/leaves on the track.

🪏Holes will be pre-dug, plants, w**d matting and tools provided and we'll have a demo from our wonderful QLDC parks Officer – all we need to do is plant the plants!

🧁Will be a fun community day with yummy baking & refreshments provided ☕️

✨️We had around 10 people respond to the poll, so thank you! See you there!

***Sharing on behalf of QLDC***
QLDC, KVL and HEB Construction will soon be commencing construction works on the new wastewater pumping station in Dorset Street (Oxford Street end). This is the first element of the wastewater infrastructure that will service the KVL development, and the wider Kingston Township in the future. The team will be holding an information session on the upcoming construction works this Thursday, 12th March, at 7pm at the Kingston Golf Club room. Nearby residents have been contacted directly by the team to invite them along.

If anyone else is interested to hear more, feel free to come along.

KCA members will be present and we can share a summary for anyone unable to attend, if helpful.

DOC would like to notify the Kingston Community of some upcoming aerial Broom and Gorse boom spraying in the Taka Ra Haka Conservation Area.

The heli is targeting patches of Broom and Gorse that is spreading up the hill with the aim to prevent further spread into the tussock and native scrub areas. All going well it will be completed within the day.

They apologise for the late notice but they will likely be undertaking this job tomorrow (weather dependent)

Spraying will be targeting patches of Gorse and Broom within the red area outlined below

📢 Be a member of the Kingston Community (Association)

Under the Incorporated Societies Act 2022, every society must maintain an up-to-date register of members (e.g. names, contact details)

Being a member of the Kingston Community Association does not mean you're on KCA Committee (don't worry, no monthly meetings or assigning action points!) It simply means you can attend our AGMs, that you can vote on matters that arise, and you can have your say!

If this sounds good to you, please share your details in this form.
https://forms.office.com/r/Lh2Nh5125U

This activity is a requirement for the KCA under the new Act (with the deadline looming), so that we can re-register as an Incorporated Society.

**Sharing on behalf of QLDC**
Council want our ideas and feedback regarding the next Long Term Plan (LTP) that will cover 2027- 2037. This will help shape the draft document that will be published for full consultation in autumn 2027 once it’s been reviewed by Councillors.

They’ve asked a range of questions to help inform future decisions, which you’ll find here: https://letstalk.qldc.govt.nz/ltp27
(see right of page, questions listed under 'Get involved and help set the district's direction')

You can also interact with what other participants have shared by commenting on those posts or upvoting statements. Simply click the question you want to answer or see what others have shared in response to.

What happens next?

All feedback will be reviewed and shared with Councillors at a workshop on Tuesday 17 February 2026, to assist them with steering and helping to develop the Long-Term Plan 2027-2037.

Formal consultation on a draft of Long-Term Plan 2027-2037 is expected to take place in early 2027.

Feedback closes on Sunday 8 February 2026.

A combination of reforms, growth and potential rate caps are putting more pressure than ever on Queenstown Lakes District Council budgets and capacity. This means difficult conversations need to be had when developing the next long-term budget. This is why we want to
