NEXT WEDNESDAY 🎨

Join local artist Jenny Geelan for a relaxed, hands-on workshop, a perfect introduction to the beautiful and sometimes surprising world of watercolour painting. Together you'll explore basic techniques such as washes and blending while learning how water and pigment work together.

No previous experience is needed.

You’ll be encouraged to experiment, play with colour and enjoy the process.
All materials provided.

🌸 5 DAYS TO GO! 🌸

The perfect time to sort your flares, charge your flower power and start planning your outfit for the Kingston Spring Fling.

We’re getting very close now, and we’re looking forward to a proper night out with the Kingston community. Expect live music, dancing, food, drinks and a few (very) good raffle prizes.

The Flower Power theme is your chance to go all out — think florals, flares, bright colours, psychedelic prints, flower crowns and anything else that looks like it belongs in the 60s or 70s. There are prizes for best dressed, so now is the time to find that outfit hiding at the back of the wardrobe (or start making one).

KINGSTON COMMUNITY MEETING

If you live in Kingston, please join us for an open discussion about the Kingston Project proposed by KVL.

Sunday 4 October, 3pm
Kingston Flyer Cafe and Bar

Several residents have met with KVL recently. We’d like to share what we’ve learned, hear what others have learned from their own conversations, and give everyone a chance to ask questions and talk through the proposal together.

KVL’s Fast Track referral application has been accepted for processing. That is an early step. It does not mean the project has been referred into the Fast Track approvals process or approved.

This is intended to be a respectful, informative conversation for existing Kingston residents. Whatever your views on the proposal, you’re welcome to come along and listen or contribute.

We’re holding three community forums as part of Shaping Our Future’s independent engagement for the Mayoral Transport Task Force.

The forums will be facilitated discussions about everyday transport experiences, barriers, priorities, practical possibilities and trade-offs.

You don’t need to be a transport expert. We want to hear from people who use Queenstown’s transport network in different ways.

🌌 KINGSTON DARK SKY COMMUNITY MEETING – TOMORROW NIGHT

What if Kingston could protect one of the things that makes living here so special — our incredible night sky?

The Kingston Dark Sky Project is getting underway, and we’d love interested members of our community to come along, hear what’s being proposed and get involved.

📅 Thursday 24 September

📍 St John’s Meeting Room, Kingston

We’ll be discussing:

⭐ What becoming a recognised Dark Sky Community could mean for Kingston
🌿 Protecting our environment, wildlife and biodiversity
💡 Better, responsible outdoor lighting — not less lighting, but lighting where and when we need it
🌌 Protecting our night sky for future generations
🔭 The potential for astronomy and astro-tourism
📍 What area the Dark Sky project could cover
🤝 How local residents, businesses and community groups can become involved

We’ve also made a start on taking night-sky quality measurements around Kingston, which will help us understand and record the quality of the night sky we have today.

This is a community project, and tomorrow night is an opportunity to help shape what it could become.

You don’t need to know anything about astronomy or lighting — if you care about Kingston, our environment and protecting what makes this place special, please come along.

QLDC and ORC are planning a series of drop-in sessions for community members who use private drinking water supplies.

These sessions are intended to provide practical advice on water quality, testing, and ongoing management of private supplies.
You should have received a letter or email and attached is a poster. Let me know if you'd like me to send you the letter/email and some additional FAQs (comment below)
