Invitation to a community workshop:

How much do we really understand about climate change? Especially with this extremely wet winter, how does climate change intensify extreme weather events causing flooding? With the issue being a global phenomenon, What can we individually do about it?

To address some of these questions, we have an exciting new event for the WRCT community! Partnering with Climate Club, we would like to offer our community a climate FRESK workshop. Through a card game, this workshop offers a fun and engaging way to learn about climate change. Learn about New Zealand specific climate facts, and what individuals and us as a community can do to combat climate change.

The event will be held in the Blockhouse Bay Community Centre, please email [email protected] to confirm your attendance.

Planting native trees on your property, especially if you live next to a stream, is a great nature-based way of reducing the damage flooding can do. And of course, it's not just flood resilience: native plants provide food and homes for native birds and bugs, pump out oxygen, keep urban temperatures down and so much more! That's why we want to shine a spotlight on some of the best plants you can plant with a series of factsheets.
First up is tī kōuka / cabbage tree!
