Early monitoring results are showing rat activity has ramped up significantly. The period Mar- May is always active but we are seeing lots of activity in almost all areas of the Island. NOW is the time to set your trap before they come inside for Winter. HIEG.

Great news-40 whiteheads nurtured at Shakespeare have been released in the Mataia conservation area on the Kaipara to expand the breeding grounds in Auckland.

NOT POISON. Our annual May pest animal monitoring is underway with 140 devices around the Island. During the month residents will see herbal peanut butter chew cards (white) & peanut butter wax tags (orange) throughout the Island for 10-14 days.

Massive mahi yesterday by a small group of volunteers to spread almost 40m3 of mulch at Pahiki Reserve. The result is stunning & trust you all pulled up well today. Many thanks HIEG

Pahiki or Pakihi Reserve? Factoid: Maori knew Herald Island as Motu Pakihi. Over more than a decade, we have been trying to have the name corrected- still a WIP.
In the interim we will be at Pahiki Reserve this Sunday from 9.30 to spread mulch which suppresses weeds & retains soil moisture in Summer. Morning tea provided. HIEG

Wow this technology is moving along at rapid rate with the result; "AI identification is now very common when transferred to the control/spraying component. It helps to manually check or support the process, but the level of accuracy is basically 100%" !!
