From raising fund to creating opportunity

Members of Chetnagar Women Empowerment Centre (WEC)of Chandrapur raised nearly NPR 35,000 through Deusi-Bhailo during Year I and instead of waiting for external support, the members decided to invest the fund in their own skill development. Thus, the members hired trainer and then, the two-day training on dhup batti (cotton incense) making commenced on 18 August 2026, turning their collective resource into an opportunity for learning, skill development, and potentially sustainable income generation.

This is the real essence of empowerment, not simply asking for support, but identifying needs, mobilizing resources, and deciding how those resources should be used. Through WEC, being conducted under project supported by Oxfam in Nepal being implemented by Rural Development Centre Nepal, women are learning to plan, advocate, raise funds, and speak for themselves.✌️

📢SAFE Girls Project Update: Distribution of Visibility Materials, Yamunamai Rural Municipality, Rautahat
The SAFE Girls Project which is technically and financially supported by KOICA, UNFPA and Good Neighbors International Nepal and implemented by RDC Nepal at Madhesh Province distributed visibility materials including bags, T-shirts, water bottles, and caps to adolescent girls in Yamunamai Rural Municipality. Beyond the materials, it reflects our continued commitment to empowering girls with knowledge, confidence, and a stronger sense of identity and belonging. Through SAFE Spaces, adolescent girls’ groups, and awareness activities on SRHR, gender equality and GBV prevention, the project is supporting girls to make informed decisions, speak up about their rights, and actively participate in creating safer and more supportive communities.
Thank you, SAFE Girls Project, for creating opportunities that help adolescent girls feel valued, confident, informed, and empowered.

This International Youth Day, we celebrated the power of young voices under the theme "Different Contexts, Common Aspirations." 🌍✨

Through our Child Club and Rupantaran sessions, we’re not just having conversations—we’re building futures. We are empowering youth with the knowledge to understand their rights, the skills to build healthy relationships, and the confidence to make informed choices.

Here’s to a generation that pursues their dreams with dignity and equality, no matter where they come from. 🚀💙

📢SAFE Girls Project Update: Successfully completion of CSE Demand Generation out of school street drama activity.

The Safe Girls project which is technically and financially supported by KOICA, UNFPA and Good Neighbors International Nepal and implemented by RDC Nepal at Madhesh Province successfully conducted 80 events of out-of-school Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE) demand generation at 8 palikas of Rautahat and Sarlahi Districts. Through engaging street dramas & community discussions, adolescents, parents, teachers, and community leaders actively participated in roleplay & conversations on Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE), Adolescent-Friendly Health Services (AFHS), Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR), Gender-Based Violence (GBV), and Child Marriage.
The event created a safe and interactive platform to raise awareness, challenge harmful social norms, and strengthen knowledge on available support services and referral pathways.
We extend our sincere gratitude to all participants, schools, community stakeholders, mentors, and facilitators whose valuable contributions made this event a success.

Rural Development Centre Nepal (RDC) Nepal, with support from Oxfam in Nepal under the BCRC Project, has officially concluded its 16-day Climate-Smart Agriculture (CSA) Training program today, 3rd August.

Initiated on 19th July, the program was rolled out across 4 cohorts of 25 participants, reaching a total of 100 Women Empowerment Center (WEC) members. The interactive training combined theoretical knowledge with field-level practical demonstrations of different CSA practices like vermi-composting, jholmal production, drip irrigation, tunnel cultivation, enriched by valuable sessions from local municipal agricultural experts.

We extend our sincere gratitude to Chandrapur Municipality, Gujara Municipality, Oxfam in Nepal, and most importantly, the inspiring women participants who are driving climate resilience from the roots and now ready for practicing Climate Smart Agriculture (CSA).

CSA Training Update: Batch 3 Completed!

Under the BCRC Project (implemented by Rural Development Centre Nepal Oxfam in Nepal), momentum is building! We’ve officially wrapped up training for our 3rd cohort of farmers.
A special highlight for this batch was an insightful 1-day session led by the Agricultural Officer from Chandrapur Municipality's Agriculture Section, adding expert municipal insight to our practical field demos on sustainable farming techniques.
Three completed, just one more cohort to go!

Under the BCRC Project (implemented by Rural Development Centre Nepal with support from Oxfam in Nepal ), a massive plantation campaign was launched in joint collaboration with the Division Forest Office, Rautahat, and Namaste Community Forest User Group (CFUG).
Across 5 hectares of reclaimed riverbed land of Namaste CFUG at Gujara Municipality-3, Simari, this initiative aims to plant 8,000 seedlings of various climate-resilient species, including Teak, Eucalyptus, Jamun, Amala, Sissoo, Moringa, and Malaysian Sal.
The event was inaugurated in the presence of key stakeholders, including Division Forest Office Chief (DFO) Mr. Manoj Thakur, Sub-Division Forest Officers, FECOFUN representatives, local security officials, and executive members of Namaste CFUG led by Chairperson Mr. Ram Bahadur Lama.

By turning barren riverbed land into vibrant greenery, we are taking active steps toward environmental conservation, soil protection, and mitigating the impacts of climate change in our local communities.♻️🌱
