How Martha Mattered And Will Continue To Matter...

That gender that always fears the other gender, I greet you specifically. While you are cheering and congratulating Hakimi for saving the bulk of his money in his mother's name and depriving his divorced wife of his money I still congratulate you. The consolation is that it is still the other gender that is in custody of the money so there is no cause for alarm. Fearing a gender and still acquiring properties in the name of same gender. No be juju be that? Cheers to those who are openly celebrating Hakimi' s principle and also openly fearing the other gender. Thereafter, they will nicodemously sneek in to meet the other gender that they have been openly condemning. After all the paparazzi and glitz, las las, the other gender still matters. As our men continue to fear the other gender, I want to assure them that no gender is particularly guiltless Good women have over the years been getting married to bad men. In the same vein, bad women have also been getting married to good men. It is a two sided kind of thing. That is why we always maintain that this life is not balanced.

So, while we are still arguing for or against Hakimi's principle/ wisdom, the lady with a protruding tummy in this write up was kicked out of her matrimonial home by her husband of seven years because she had endometriosis. People with this ailment always have a protruding tummy. The husband that should have stood by her through thick and thin bluntly refused to matter in his wife's condition. It was at that point that he decided to send her away. I am sure that perhaps if the woman in question was hale and hearty, she wouldn't have been sent away. Perhaps, if she was given a juicy political appointment, her husband would have stuck to her like a pin on a magnet. Because she was having health issues, she was shoved aside like a piece of rubbish by the gender that is fearing another gender

The woman suffered untold hardship due to her condition. Body shaming became the order of the day. When she sat with people, one by one, they eventually left the place for her because of her protruding tummy. The same scenario played out even in Church. They made it appear as if the ailment was a communicable disease. They rubbed it in such a way that even if the ailment wasn't ready to take her life, their actions was enough to frustrate and even kill her.
She sourced for money to treat herself medically yet there was no money. Her mother had to sell their family's only land yet the money was not enough to solve the problem. That was the dilemma she was in until Dr Mrs Martha Udom got wind of her plight through Feyrep and then delved into the matter. Through Mrs Martha, the young lady was saved. Martha mattered in the life of this young and promising woman even when those that should have mattered in her life rejected her. Today, the lady is back to her normal self and as beautiful as ever.

So today, I am specifically celebrating Martha Udom Emmanuel. We have had so many first ladies in Nigeria but they all have showcased their priorities in one way or the other. For some, slapping people have been their number one priority. Some have been obsessed with acquiring properties and stupendous wealth while others had no priorities or vision at all. Not our Martha. Our Martha has built homes for widows, empowered women and has been a lifeline to so many. Dear Martha, I am appreciating you today, because some other person would have chosen to look the other way but you went all out to lift this young woman's burden. This is how you have mattered in so many ways to so many people. Thank you for using your position in life to be a blessing to others. Ke ntak ado, you will always matter even when your tenure as the first lady in Akwa Ibom State elapses.

10th Edition of Martha's PregnaCare Outreach Holds
..As over 500 expectant mothers receive lifelines
The joy of over 500 pregnant women from the 31 local government areas of the state knew no limits today Tuesday, June 21, 2022, as they benefited from the Martha's Pregnacare Outreach, the 10th edition.
With the theme: “Pregnancy , Child Birth and Beyond” the quarterly-held initiative is a reproductive health programme of Family Empowerment and Youth Reorientation Path-Initiative, (FEYReP), aimed at reducing maternal death and child morbidity in Akwa Ibom. From inception in 2018 till date, over 4000 pregnant women have benefited from the scheme.
The FEYReP boss, Her Excellency, Dr. Mrs. Martha Udom Emmanuel while speaking, said the outreach was borne out of her strong desire to minimize the rate of deaths of pregnant women during child-birth through sensitization and the provision of basic maternity kits for pregnant women.
“This programme which is in its 10th edition is a sustained intervention aimed at fostering responsible care for our women, especially those of child-bearing age in the State from the time of conception to delivery. As it has become traditional with us in FEYReP, we will continue to provide all the needed support and reach out to as many families as we can, " Emmanuel said.
The First Lady, while admonishing the pregnant mothers to adhere wholly to the teachings received, added that they must always seek proper medical attention by enrolling in ante-natal care during pregnancy.
The governor’s wife furthered that she was not against the practice of traditional birth attendants, but however, insisted that it was expedient for all expectant mothers to visit the hospital when they are pregnant to have proper medical records during and after childbirth.
“Don’t risk yourself by patronizing untrained personnel during pregnancy. Once you know you are pregnant, the first place to go is the hospital or health centers, I have said it over time that so many deaths recorded during pregnancy are occasioned by the fact that they refused going to the hospital for check-up and ante-natal,” she asserted.
Mrs. Emmanuel furthered that as women and mothers, it was necessary for them to engage in economic activity to support their husbands insisting that it would better their status during and after pregnancy.
Speaking earlier, the Coordinator of the FEYReP, Dr. Idoreyin Ekanam, while appreciating the Governor’s wife for her consistency in holding the reproductive health programme, said over 3000 women have become beneficiaries of the event which is in its 10th edition.
She added that Mrs. Emmanuel's passion in curbing maternal deaths and child morbidity in the state has already placed her in the annals of history in the state, and prayed God to bless her.
Similarly, the UNFPA representative in Nigeria, Ms. Maria Rhakovic, in her goodwill message, expressed delight at the the programme which according to her falls in line with her organisation's goals of promoting child and women's health in the country. She thanked the governor's wife for her genuine love for her people and prayed for the continuation of the programme.
On hand to deliver their separate health talks were Dr. Eno Mkpang who spoke on the topic: ‘Nutrition during Pregnancy Post Delivery and Early Childhood', and Dr. Mary Udoh spoke on “Ante-natal Care: Key to Healthy Pregnancy and Child Health,” while Dr. Imabong Inwang who spoke on the 'Myths and facts of Caesarean Section' and Mrs. Florence Bassey “Nutrition and Health benefits of Vitamin A Crops.”
The resource persons, who identified reasons for deaths during childbirth, spoke against pregnant mothers’ patronage of Traditional Birth Attendants, and as well charged them to always engage in proper medical check-ups and ante-natal in order to detect any anomaly during pregnancy. They thanked the governor’s wife for the platform to educate the pregnant women, saying it will drastically reduce the tide in the state.
Some beneficiaries of the previously held event had only words of appreciation for the governor’s wife for providing them the enabling and educative platform to learn, saying it contributed a lot to their successful delivery.
